I found the perfect BM dresses BUT...

So I found these wonderful BM dresses but....they are way to much for me to ask my BMs to spend on  any dress (over $300-thats with the discount of buying so many)***sigh***

I few days ago I was searching for a dress for ME to wear in pictures I am getting done this weekend.  And what do you know these beautiful dresses from Ann Taylor appeared.  I loved them.  They are the perfect color they are almost identical to the more expensive ones I loved AND they are buy 1 get 1 50%
I sent a facebook request to all my BMs they all loved them very much!!!

Here is my issue I'm struggleing with....I sent Ann Taylor an email asking if they were sold in stores or if I could see the fabric by purchasing a swatch.
No they are not in stores
No they offer no fabric swatches to purchase
and the worst one yet...
Once they sell all sizes they will not remake this dress.....

So my dilimia is do I ask my BMs to go ahead and make this purchase....
the wedding is June 4th 2011!
My WP has been asked as of early this year FI and I were engaged May 2009.

Other tid bits of info that is important...
these dresses are NOT BM dresses totally they can be worn again and my BMs said they could see themselves wearing these dresses elsewhere.
buy 1 get 1 50% that you can't beat
they are in the perfect color Aqua
made of 100% silk ( outdoor June wedding in NC=HOT)

I'm at a loss I just don't know what to do!!!Undecided

********this is a repost from Attire Boards****************

Tid bits of info not included in orginial post:
I would buy all dresses at once with my card then ask BMs to pay me back.
I got "chewed out" for the asking of my WP way to early in their opinion--which I totally understand!  But I was engaged 8 months before I asked anyone to be in my wedding AND they all knew it before I asked them...I'm predicitable like that :)
FI says wait :(
these are the blue dresses I posted a few days ago like last Friday...I'm not on my laptop so I can't repost the pics now.
ohhh all the girls (all 7!!!) like the SAME style the one with the straps!!! bonus for me b/c I like the symetry!!

i can't say either way....thats a tough one....i think if i were you i would talk to all 7 girls and see how they feel on buying dresses right now or even allowing you to buy them and them pay you back.

the only thing i would say is that if you are going to buy them yourself and ask them to pay you back be prepared to either not get reimbursed by one or more.

the only issue you may have with purchasing them this far in advance is if someone gains weight or for some reason when the wedding comes around the dress doesn't fit.

its really something you just need to discuss with your girls, if they are all okay and comfortable with it....then go ahead.
my sister had to purchase a dress for a wedding a year in advance b/c the color was going to be discontinued and i think it all worked out fine for them.

I'm also getting married on June 4, 2011 in Raleigh and my girls have gotten their dresses already.  We actually went with J. Crew because they were running a promo that was too good to pass up.  They ordered 1 size bigger if they were worried about gaining weight, but I think they'll be fine.

If you know you'll be happy with this selection then I say go for it!!  They're beautiful dresses btw!

I would definitely have to wait it out a while!  You never know if your ideas/colors/etc will change between now and then!  I know all of my stuff has changed SO many times since I first started planning!  GL!

Well i've been planning an ENTIRE year at this point!
My favorite color in the whole world is (Carolina/Sky/light) BLUE there will be many a shades of blue in my wedding!

The theme/formality isn't going to change already booked the venue there is no formal with this one (outdoor FARM/ROCK Quarry).

And I have wanted these knee length dresses since the very beginning!

I'm more indecisive than anything and I would have a hard time about making a decision so once its made there is usally no changing it I mean the thought process I put to things I usually figure out what I want!

I honestly wouldn't think of any of these girls not paying me back...I trust them very much....we  have very strong friendship bonds the longest is 24 years the shortest is 5 years! I'm only 25 yrs old :) Also, and I know this is a little biased but these girls are all very mature only one of them is younger than me and its only by months!

I will reply back to AT and see about the return policy just in case the sizes are wrong!

It sounds to me like you already have your mind made up, so I don't really understand why you are questioning yourself....go with your gut feeling and don't second guess yourself if this is what you have your heart set on.

Ginger, what's the chance any of your bridesmaids are on the path towards a baby?  When they're planning their family I doubt they'd be thinking about that dress in their closet that they're supposed to wear next June.

Also, I've been a bridesmaid a couple times, and one girl wanted us to order our dresses very early.  We all agreed, but we complained amongst ourselves.  Your girls may tell you they don't mind ordering now, even if they really do.

THIS is where i was coming from when i said they may not pay you back or br reluctant to do so, sorry if you took offense to it. it does sound like you already have your mind made up, you just have to do what you want.

I'd be very nervous about doing 100% silk dresses in June. Silk + hot weather = lots of uncomfortable sweatiness  :(

One of my best friends and I had the same BM dresses - they were Ann Taylor just different colors, she had a light green and I had a brown ones.  Her wedding was this past July and it wasn't as hot as it could be in July but ALL the girls were sweating in the dresses (I was smart and used clinical deodorant -so I didn't have this problem.  Iit makes a HUGE difference).  But the wedding was indoors and everyone was stressing about armpit stains on the dresses.  Just know that it could be an issue w/any dresses you buy, it's just that silk is a lot less forgiving than other fabrics...
