back from honeymoon...now how do I change my name??

Hey ladies!  I'm back from my honeymoon and it was amazing!  So many wonderful memories with DH! 

Now I know that someone on here wrote a pretty comprehensive list on how to change your name.... MGs- I need your help!!  What do I do??

Check the Social security website for the form. Fill it out and bring it with the documents they say you need.  Do the same for the DMV.  You need to do your SS stuff first. Then you can get your new license, passport, and change names on credit cards, etc.

I have yet to change my SS card.  I have only changed my DL and CC's.  You can not go to DMV until you have your marriage license (you have to have the physical paper, with the raised seal, not the pink slip from the church) to change your name

Edit: I have also changed my passport.

woah, you really don't need to go to social security before you go to the dmv or get your passport? That seems weird. hm.

no offense - but i really don't understand the point when people post this.  Here's a thought - try GOOGLE.

I did google first and did not find much helpful info----mostly a bunch of sites that want my money to help me change my name.  This is where I have always come for WR advice and figured I'd go to girls who have completed the process.  I honestly had no idea where to start.

I tried that too and most of the sites refer to the Marriage Certificate as the Marriage License, I was very confused.  So when I asked here, I actually got answers. 

Diane- First get a copy of you Marriage Certificate, its usually $10 for a copy. Then take that to SS (there is an office in Iselin and Toms River)  They really just look at the marriage certificate, but bring your old SS card too, this is free.  It takes 2 weeks to get the new card and then you can go to DMV with your 6 points (plus marriage certificate and new SS card)  and change your name there.
