Hotel Block Dilemma

So originally I booked 15 rooms at a hotel for our block, I dunno what I was thinking since we have a good amount of people drivng 1 + hrs and I just found out today after I increased our room block 2x to 20 then 25 (we now have 25) that they are completely booked up and the hotel is full. I even tried booking online through their main site and through expedia and they all say rooms not available. I found out from a guest who said "your hotel you blocked is full so we went with xxx hotel instead". I realized that there is a large amount of people who will prob still need a hotel room so I plan to call xxx hotel room tomorrow (I tried today and the mngr is only there M-F to book blocks of rooms). That said, if they have rooms available. . .Im not sure which route to take, what do you think?

1 - Ask xxx hotel if they have 40 rooms and then call the 25 people who book at original hotel to cancel reservation and rebook at xxx hotel? No one was charged yet for their room.

2 - If I decide to just do another 15 block of rooms at xxx hotel, how do I get the word out there? I don't have a website and would hate to post on FB and since I still have not heard from 109 people I don't want to presume by calling them if I havent gotten their RSVP or assume if I do that they want to stay over. The original hotel says they cannot refer guests who call in to xxx hotel because they are not affiliated.

Help? What would you do?

Sorry that this is happening! This was one of my fears in choosing hotels.  I wouldn't ask those people who booked to cancel their original hotel.  Especially if option no. 2 is more expensive.

Perhaps send out postcards from Vista for those people who haven't responded yet and to those who said yes.  Maybe a mass calling session with you, FI, and parents to those who might be interested in staying the night. Maybe the hotel you booked will be very kind and refer those people who call to the other option. (They would have to be super kind) I think most people can expedia themselves,..Good luck!

I'd go with a second block at Hotel B. Are you using their shuttles to get your guests to the reception? We had an issue with our block and wound up sending out a mass email to our friends with the new info. Our parents passed it along to their guests (word of mouth or email). We were 3 weeks out and didn't have time to send out cards. It was not the most formal but it did the job. Good luck! Don't stress... You'll also have guests who dont stay at either hotel because they want to use points.
