So stressed about venue. Ready to elope... :(

I posted this on the SC Board too because RH is technically in SC but I actually work in Charlotte and live about 10 minutes from the border.
I really need advice. My FI and I have thought about Vegas, Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina (where we currently live). I think that we are finally ready to at least decide on Rock Hill, SC area (Matthews, Mint Hill, Monroe, etc.) so it will be easier for us to plan.  We have a budget of 5K and probably 50-60 guests. Our date is 10-1-2011.I am looking for a place to have our reception and can't seem to find anything that fits our budget.  If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Anything off-beat is welcome. We are not fancy but really want to show everyone a good time without it breaking the bank. :(

Hi, Congrats on your engagment. I am in the same boat as you. Our budget is currently at $4,500.  I live in the Winston Salem area and the only location that I can find is the Airport Marriott. The room is free and the food has to be $1,500.00 for an evening event. We are only having 50 guests or less as well.  You may want to look into your area hotel and see what they offer.

That's in Monroe. I'm not sure how much it cost. . but I'm from Monroe and it's very pretty :o)

You could look into state parks because October is very nice weather for outdoor celebrations!
    What about museums?

5k is very due-able. You just have to be thrifty :o) Ours was under 5k and we got married in Garner, nc (Near Raleigh)

There is a place in Charlotte called SMS Catering. FI's brother just used it last week for their reception. At first when we thought, a catering place with a reception room, this is going to be interesting. But when we got there we were happily surprised. The room is fairly large, the glass walls open into a patio area with a nice fountain and such. They have a stage area, fireplace, and more. The food was really good too. They were on a budget as well. I would recommend you check it out. Very easy to find.

    Don't fret!  Its always possible!

Rock Hill/Fort Mill has a lot of great locations.  We live in Lake Wylie (Hah...I consider myself to be living in Charlotte...we are only 3 miles from the border!).  We only decided to change because we wanted to get out of the Charlotte area because we wanted to keep it small.

Have you checked into the Dairy Barn in Fort Mill?  There is also several neat places in Downtown Rock Hill for reception venues that seem reasonable.

There's a place that I haven't seen updated but its on the Charlotte side just before crossing the bridge into Lake Wylie...The Red Fez Shrine Club.  I read somewhere they did some major updating inside.  It was a reasonable place and a unique spot.

There are so many smaller places that are great around the Mint Hill, Matthews, Monroe area.  It just takes a LOT of googling to find them.  I spent a lot of time finding anything and everything that hosted wedding events.  There was one in Monroe that I really liked if we got married at my husband's church...it was Clary's Banquet Facility.  I'm having a hard time finding the page...but it was also something that we looked into.  They have an indoor/outdoor set up with tents and it looked really nice!

Good luck and keep up posted with your searching! =)
