Photographer suggestions (around $3500 to spend)

Hi Everyone- after looking around, I think we know that we would liket o spend about $3500 on photography. I think we should eb able to find someone good at that price (of course I would love one of those $6k guys, but I think $3500 should work fine).
I know someone mentioned Sean Patrick, and I see Jason Rhee mantioned in a bunch of places. Can you shar your experiences with either of these? OR recoend soeone else that can fit into our budget?
TIA

We are using Jason Rhee.  I love his style he is very nice and easy to get along with.  We just had our epics taken about 2 1/2 weeks ago as soon as I get them back I will post some.

We're exclted about working with Robert Wayne Photography.  Our budget is about the same as yours and we're getting a beautiful high-end album plus parent albums.  We love his style of photography and we both really liked him personally.

Back when we were shopping photographers, we looked at Jason and really liked his work at the time.  I still get updates from his blog and I feel like his recent work isn't quite as good or creative as it used to be.  It's mentioned here from time to time that he can be very slow about getting his work out:  the initial set of images as well as completed albums.  It is probably owing to the incredible volume that he takes on (he told us that he shoots 50 weddings/year plus other work).  I've been kinda wondering if that hasn't also been a drag on his photographic work.  Just me thinking aloud.

My fiance and I are planning a crazy DIY, vintage inspired wedding for the fall of 2012.  We searched FOREVER for a photographer in our area because we can't afford to fly someone in.  I feel like a lot of creative photographers are all down south or out west.  Grrr!

We found Jessica Oh! Photography and I'm just so excited about her that I wanted to gush and share!  She is seriously so sweet and we are so glad we went with her!  She has a unique style....think vintage and dreamy with some edginess and quirkiness.  From the first time we spoke to her we felt at ease.  Every email is like talking to an old friend and she is constantly checking in on us, making great suggestions and helping us with so much more than the pictures.  She has really fun ideas and likes to incorporate things like props.  We absolutely adore her!

All her packages are really affordable and just having her on your side during planning is worth it.  Seriously.

and she is always updating and posting on her facebook:

I hope this helps!  Tell her Sophia sent you!!!

    Love,
    A total groupie...LOL!

    We're using Michael Dempsey Photograpy...

He has 4 different levels to choose from starting around $1900. You're able to add a la carte items, as well.  For instance, we chose the 3rd level, but upgraded our album for $x amount of dollars and added in an engagement session.

He has a very natural feel, nothing too posed/formal which wanted (altho, of course, we'll have some posed pics w/ family), and has worked with our venue many times which was a huge plus.

We're using Sean Patrick! I love him! He was so fun on our E-shoot and is so easy going. I really suggest meeting with him to see his albums, they're different (we loved, but maybe not for everyone).  If you want I can PM you with my password to his online galary to look at the unedited shots from our E-pics.

We used Jason Rhee and we LOVED him. (the package was chose was $2150)
Here are the links to my photos if you'd like to see his work:

And here is my review from right after our wedding:
(A+) Jason showed up on time and immediately go to work taking the detail photos. He made everybody feel relaxed and at ease taking pictures. My parents, family and all of the bridal party commented on how much they loved him. He was funny, quick, and efficient. I cannot WAIT to see our photos, and I know they will be amazing.

ETA: It took 6 weeks until he had some photos up on his blog, and 8 weeks until I received all of the proofs and online gallery.
In the end, I really don't think that's unreasonable. While I would've liked to have them sooner, it is not excessively long.

We are using Tania Lezak.  I have seen her in action and I chose her because she is non-invasive and very sweet, and of course talented.  If you have any questions PM me.  We are spending a little more than that but her packages started much less.

I'll second Robert Wayne Photography for all the same reasons.  We also liked that he's a la carte.  This allowed us to not only build a custom package but we didn't have to commit on an album or anything else until after our wedding.

We're also using Stephanie Jones Photography.  Her style is exactly what we were looking for & her prices were much more reasonable than others we looked at.  We met her in person, got along perfectly, & booked with her a couple days later!

We're using Jason.  he is really friendly and was flexible with his packages.  We got to mix between 2 packages to ultimately get what we wanted with how much we wanted to pay.
