When should I mail out the "Save the Dates" if my wedding is on a holiday weekend, July 3, 2011? What info did you put on the STD's besides your names and date? Thanks!

    Location, hotel information, travel infrmation. People will need to book hotels as soon as possible.

    You can send them out whenever you want. I think the sooner the better because it is a bit travel/holiday weekend.

    HOWEVER, keep in mind whomever gets a STD will need an invite so only send to those you MUST have at the wedding. If there is someone you aren't sure about or someone who is starting to be distant or something you may want to hold off on them and you can always send them a STD at 6months out if you realize you want them there.

    great point with saying to ONLY send the std's to people who you know for sure you want at the wedding.  I made that mistake and ended up having to still invite some people to the wedding that I no longer planned on.

    Laurie and Diane covered it.  Stick with sending the STD's to those who you know you will be inviting (like, it was family and close friends for me).  You can always send the 2nd batch out at the 6 month mark.

    Our wedding was on a holiday weekend.  We sent ours about 9 months before (just because we had already picked them out and such) and included the date and town, but no other info.  The OOT hotels were in Basking Ridge, which is not a big Labor Day destination,.  People who waited until 2 weeks before the wedding to book the hotel were fine.  But if the wedding is at the shore or somewhere else that is a popular destination that weekend, I'd make sure to have the rooms blocked and to have that information available to guests much earlier.

    And yeah -- make sure you know that everyone you send save the dates to will definitely be invited.  Sometimes relationships change over a year.
