Mailing a Pencil Save-the-Date

I want to do a personalized pencil save-the-date but I'm not sure how to mail it (just a single pencil and a card)... did anyone do this? How? Wanted to see before bugging the post office clerks...

I am not speaking from experience, but the only way I can think to mail that properly would be with the pencil inside a box....which I am not sure you're up for doing. I recall a wedding invitation I received that came inside a box, and as unique as it was, I can only imagine the postage costs!!!!!

    Good Luck!

I would skip the pencil even if you went down to a golf size pencil so you could slide it in the envelope it will increase each postage by a min. of 1 stamp and personally i dont ever see anyone use pencils anymore

Thanks! I'm really concerned about postage so I'll come up with some alternative plans...

My best friend did a scroll and mailed them in a tube. You could use that for a pencil but it wasn't cheap. Does the pencil have meaning? Is there another idea that might be easier to mail?

DItto PP. It's going to cost more to mail the pencil than the pencil itself. Just mail a card or post card if you're concerned about postage.

I was going for "Pencil it In" but I'm open to finding another idea. I just want something a little different than a magnet or card... I was going to use a padded envelope and pray that it didnt tear through it... but it seems like too much hassle. Thanks for all of your suggestions!
