My diamond seems to be loose (pic)

When I moved my hand near my face yesterday, I heard a clicking sound. So I shook my ring hand near my ear and found that it was my diamond moving.  If I push from top to bottom, the diamond moves just a bit.  It doesn't look like it could fall out of the setting, but I'm worried. Should I be? Or is this normal?  Do you think I should take it back to Tiffanys to have them look at it?

My diamond came loose in my setting after about 5 months, and I took it back to Jareds and they fixed it.  We have a warranty though so I am supposed to take it in every 6 months for cleaning and any repairs, so I don't know if that was why they did it, or if they would have done it anyway.

But regardless of whether you have a warranty I would take it in -- if it is loose, it will probably continue to get looser!

    Also -- gorgeous ring!

Beth, if you've got a warrenty on your ring, they'll do that regardless, but they do require you check it in every 6 months (my second inspection is this month) but I'll usually take mine in once a month or so to get cleaned and what not and I always see them checking the diamonds to make sure they aren't loose.

Kate (I'm bad with names, so I'm going off your SN) I would take it in to check it as soon as you could. It may not be loose now, but could get worse. So yeah, I'd take it in and they should fix it.    Beautiful ring btw!

This is fairly common, it happened to me within the first year of wearing my ring. They should be able to tighten the prongs down on the diamond a little more to secure it.  This is one of the reasons why you should get your ring checked ever so often so that it is secure.  I know for my jewelery store warranty, I'm supposed to go in every 6 months to have it checked, this is to make sure that it is still tight and so there are less chances of loosing the stone.

But, you definitely want to get this done asap, because if it is moving a little bit, it could come out of the setting, and that would be bad!

ps. you add a pic via the little green tree button at the bottom of the text box to upload a picture from your computer.

i have to get info from Chad- he didnt tell me anything about a warranty or taking the ring in for check-ups.  I'm glad I asked here, because I thought it might be normal with the heart shape and that maybe I just didnt notice it before.

Meredith- thanks for the tip on adding pics!  I tried different html codes on here and nothing seemed to work :)
