DJ or a DJ and an Emcee?

Hi-
I need to make a decision between having a DJ only or a DJ and an Emcee. I have never been to a wedding, I don't think, where there has been a DJ and an Emcee. We budgeted for the DJ and Emcee, I just need to decide if I need both. We will have about 130 guests, and are using Fantasy Productions, Bob Alright will be the Emcee, or DJ depending what we decide.

What do you guys think is necessary, and what have you seen that works best?

Thanks!

I think a lot of it has to do with whether or not you want someone really amping up the crowd, talking a lot, etc. or if you just want your introductions and a few comments and announcements made here and there so as not to interrupt the music.  If you want the former then you should probably get a DJ/MC duo and if you want the latter then you should be fine with just a DJ.

I agree.. I've actually never been to a wedding when there wasn't a DJ and emcee. The company that we are using automatically includes both, so it wasn't an option for us. We don't really want them talking a lot or dancing around, etc (more laid back), so we really don't need both, and if it had been a choice, we would've gone with just one person.

What are Fantasy Productions prices?  If you don't want to share on here, you can just PM me (if you don't mind).  I'm searching for a dj as we speak.
