If no one is going to throw me a bridal shower, what should I do?

So I didn't really care at first whether I had a shower or not but now I sorta want one....First of all, my parents are paying for just about my entire wedding so to ask my mother to throw a bridal shower for me is in my opinion ludacris.  My parents threw my fiance and I an engagement party at their house, and instead of a rehearsal dinner my parents are doing a get-together at their house once again.  Now a bridal shower at her house? (because that would be the only way if she'd want to do it cheap.)  I don't think so.  I do not have a maid of honor because I don't have a sister or close female relative.  I have four bridesmaids who are all good friends, but I don't have one super close friend that I wanted to designate as maid of honor so instead I'm doing without one.  My bridesmaids are all tight on money, but if it were at someone's house, how expensive could it possibly be?  (Although only 2 bridesmaids live semi-close.) Seriously, can't you just pick up deli sandwiches from the super market or something?  Heck, even I'd pay for that!  I don't even think I'm allowed to mention that I want a bridal shower though, am I?  Anyways, I'm pretty sure if I don't say anything I won't get one.  My family as a whole is extremely small.

Maybe they are planning one....and as someone who just finished helping throw a baby shower at a home....it can be pretty expensive.  Yes, you can do it on the cheap...but just because it is at home does not make it super cheap.

You can't ask someone to plan your shower. If it's asked you can say what you'd prefer, mention where you're registered, but it's not something to be expected.

It can be done cheaply.  We had one of my showers at MY house...I offered it since we have a big back yard.  My girls made food and bought mini appetizers to put in the oven, etc. They even made sangria, which was a hit.  I'm pretty sure they all spent less than $100 each.

I can understand why you want one and would be disappointed without one. I think every girl deserves a shower!

Mine was in a church basement with homemade food and Oriental Trading decorations. It was really nice, everyone seemed to have a good time and my mom was very gracious to throw it for me. This happened about 6 weeks out from my wedding, so just because you haven't gotten one by now doesn't mean that it's too late.

Just wait and see what happens. Unfortunately, if nobody throws you one then you can't ask for one or throw it yourself, because it's very rude to ask for/plan a party where the intention is for you to get gifts. If you don't get one, then it sucks and you are allowed to feel bummed, but that's about as far as you can take it.

i'm in the same boat. i don't have a moh and my other bms are good friends and my 1 cousin. I mentioned to my FI that it would be nice to have a shower a while ago and he said to ASK my mom or cousin. HA! I'm not asking anyone!
