Hola and MG question -for changed your name ladies

What were the steps you took (in order) to change your name?  How long did the whole process take and how difficult was it?

Also - I deleted all my TK links from work before honeymoon - where is the knot site for changing your profile pic?

TIA :)

I went to Social Security first and then went to DMV...did it all on the same day and it took a few hours.  Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

you can check online for the hours.  I think most are only open during the day, which is one of the reasons it took my 7 months to get my name changed..LOL.

i moved out of state (NJ -> NY), so it was kind of a PIA.
I got 5 copies of my marriage license (too many - 2 would have been enough).
I went to social security first b/c the DMV would not change my license without the social security card (a NY thing).  Then I started changing credit cards.  I still haven't changed my passport.

Nice siggy pic, by the way :)

In my Brides magazine this month there is an article that recommends for $20, this company will do it all for you.  When I have it near me I can post the web address.  I think Im going that route!

IMO it isn't worth the $20...it was so easy here in NJ....literally just go when you have a chance, it only takes a couple of hours and it so easy.   When I went to DMV, they didn't even ask for my SS #, so you could probably go there first.   As for credit cards, etc..that was all pretty easy too.  I would save the $20 and just do it little by little.
