Waaay too much drama before 8:30am! NWR

So, FI & I leaver for work at the same time this morning.
He pulls out 1st, gets half way down the road and stops.
I just knew something was wrong, so I pull along side and rolled down my window.
His Sirius radio was stolen! And the door was locked with the radio in the glove compartment, which freaked me out... someone had to know it was there.
Not to mention they left his GPS and Puma sunglasses which were both ON the front seat.
(My amateur detective theory thanks it was a kid for this reason.... they don't need the GPS, and were too stupid to realize that once he called Sirius to report it, the radio would be rendered useless, even if the thief purchased their own service.)
ANYWAY I am seriously freaked out and felt so violated (even though it technically wasn't my own stuff, I was spooked for FI.)
So while he is on the phone with Sirius, I call the police to report the incident. I knew there was nothing they could do... I knew they wouldn't launch a full on investigation & come dust for fingerprints or anything... but I wanted it reported so it was on paper, and maybe they could patrol the area more.
Was I blown away when they said "come on in, we believe we have your property... a number of items were stolen & recovered from your area last night"....!!!!!!!!!
FI is at the PD now, I am so antsy waiting to here more details about this, and know for sure he got his beloved radio back!

That's nuts! What town do you live in?

A few weeks ago on a Saturday morning MH was getting ready to go mountain biking. He strapped his bike to the back of his car and remembered he had to run back in the house to put his biking shorts on, and since it would take a minute he didn't think he had to lock the car (at 9am on a Saturday). Well, literally a minute later he goes back out, but stops at the door to say something to my mom for a few seconds (at which point the invader takes off before my husband turned around)... when he gets in his car the glove compartment was open and everything inside was all over the passenger seat. Thankfully nothing was taken but this was scary as all heII!! His ipod was in the console and I guess the person didn't have enough time to look in there. The scary thing is that I have lived in the same town my whole life, and I consider it to be a "good" town. Nothing like this has ever happened before so when it does, it really makes you second guess people.

Thanx everyone.... still waiting to hear how it plays out, and if whatever they have there is in fact his.....
We live in North Brunswick! In a very large town home development! I always felt so safe, we are so far into it, I thought any criminals entering the development surely would opt for a closer unit.
But who knows, maybe the thief was a resident....
    Sad world.

Wow! Heather! That's nuts! So happy Ed got his radio back though and everything ended well. Hopefully now he'll bring it in the house when he gets out of the car.

Eek- crazy! Glad you got it back... and actually glad it was kids. If it was an adult I would be very nervous etc, but for some reason since it was kids I think that you are safer (which I know, anyone could have a knife/gun... just adults make me more nervous). So bizarre, but good to know that you should always call the police!

WOW!  So glad it was returned and hope those kids learn a lesson!  I've been robbed before and know what you mean about feeling violated!

That's horrible but glad that you were able to get back. I completely understand about feeling violated, I'm sure I would feel the same way.
