Grand Marquis in Old Bridget Reviews?

Hi Everyone-

I went to see the Grand Marquis yesterday in Old Bridge and really liked it and am considering booking it.  However, I'm a little apprehensive since seeing many poor reviews of it on these message boards.  Do any of you have any further insight on it as far as good and bad experiences?  Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I was a guest there once.  I guess I didn't notice the bad reviews; I thought they did a pretty good job.  The food wasn't top shelf, but it was good and the service was prompt and friendly.  I get the sense that they're reasonably priced.  That plus the beautiful dome as well as a small area for pictures outside.  It may not the Waldorf, but I think it's very nice.

My cousin had gotten married there a couple of years ago. I loved how big the ballroom was since we are a big dancing family. I don't really remember the food, I just know we had a really great time and that's what counts at least for me lol.

I've never been there for a wedding before, but have been there probably 10 time for cheerleading/football banquets over the years. I love the food, though when I've gone it's been french-style service which is not my favorite.

I have been to two weddings there and have nothing bad to say.  The food is good, not gourmet, but I have not really been to many weddings where the food was gourmet.  The service is great.

we're getting married there in april. i was a little apprehensive too because of the lack of reviews but the staff has been really understanding (we're having an arab/spanish wedding and we have a lot of requests to accomodate both our families) and they gave us the best price by far. i think the only downside the place has is that it doesn't have any grounds outside but i don't think that's a big deal.

I know someone who went to a wedding there the day before they went to mine and they said the service was horrible and the food wasn't good. They said my wedding was 100 times better than the other person's - which made me feel a little bad since I am friends with the person who's wedding it was, but I was really glad they thought everything was so great at mine (at the Crystal Ballroom in Freehold). I was also happy because the GM was our second choice place, so I am glad we didn't end up having our wedding there!

Does anyone know if there are minimums for the rooms or do we have a choice of room? I would love the dome room, not so much the other..

GM was one of our top choices but we ended up finding a place we liked better. Booking of the Grand Ballroom depends on whe you are getting married. We are getting married in November and we had the choice of the two rooms because they consider November off-season. The minimum amount of guests required for each room was the same - 125, so we had our choice. I know a girl who is having her reception in September was told that she had to guarantee 150 for the Grand Ballroom. I will say that for being off season in November, it was very high - $163 pp.
