Let's talk undergarments...

Hopefully this isn't TIM... So I was planning in the next month to go to the Bra Patch in Raleigh to find a strapless bra to wear with my wedding dress.  I mentioned this on Friday's TGIF post and someone pointed out could I have cups sewn in.

Did or are people doing this? Olga is doing my alterations. My only concern is I have a decent amount to support, so I dont know if that would work or not. I don't need anything fancy or crazy. I'm not looking or something that goes all the way down my stomach or anything like that. Thoughts?

I was the one that asked! And yes I'm doing it!

I think Meredith did this too.

I wore a strapless dress that had a built in corset type thing with boning in it (very descriptive, I know).  Olga sewed in cups.  I'm a smallish C cup, and it was enough support for me.

I'm wearing a strapless bra. I have a lot to support as well and I want to look... not saggy.

I am trying to decide about if I should get cups sewn in or wear a long line strapless bra. I worry about the strapless because when I tried on the sample dress at Davids Bridal in some of the pictures you can see a corner of the bra. I am going to Olga for my alterations and wondered if she sewed in a lot of cups. I hope she can get all the alterations I need done in time. Because my dress is form fitting I am waiting until the beginning of May to get it altered. She is to have the dress finished a week before the wedding, so I guess if it needs more done she stilll has a little bit more time. I think the alterations being right are what I stress about the most, but everyone talks about how great she is so I'm sure I'm worrying for nothing.

I have my first fitting mid April. Maybe I'll call Olga before then and ask her what she thinks? That won't be awkward at all right..telling her about my boob size. Oh well!

Olga almost always recommends doing sewn-in cups.  If you buy a fancy bra, she will make you return it. I bought a special strapless bra but it wasn't doing much for me and it showed above the back of the dress and made the front fit weird.  She put in cups directly into the dress and added new elastic band, so that it was perfectly snug. It was actually probably better than a bra because it was tight to me and seamless.

If the cups are placed right, sewn in and your elastic band inside the dress is tight, you'll be just fine even if it's a large cup size! Ask Olga about your situation before you spend money on a bra that you probably wont need.

Thanks Meredith! That is good to know. I will call Olga and see what she says. I hope she does suggest sewn in cups. I don't want to be pulling on a strapless bra all night.

Olga sewed in cups for me and also did the elastic band.  I couldn't be happier - definitely wait and see what she says!  I didn't buy anything even though DB wanted me to get the bra and slip.  Olga said I didn't need any of it.

totally do the sewn in elastic band. i dont have any boobs, but still i love having that in there (with the sewn in cups which are to make me look like i have boobs, not support anything). especially if your dress is strapless - it makes it feel snug like its not going to fall down. good luck!
