Printer Question (as usual)

I swear, I'm an idiot when it comes to printing things.

Do any of you have experience printing on stardream paper?  We chose our invitations on Sunday and they are one stardream, so I want to print out my DIY stuff on the same paper so it all matches.  Advice?

    Some printers don't handle metallic paper well. Get a sample and see what happens with yours.

    Let it dry for 24 hours before touching it. You can also try lightly spraying it with hairspray after printing to help prevent the ink from running. But generally...it probably won't be as crisp as it should be (which may or may not be noticeable to you) and may run if it gets wet. Try it out and see.

    Hello;
    I am a newbie to the board. I am getting married in June 2010 :) Can't wait. I am actually a graphic designer and know the industry very well. Stardream is not usually very good with InkJet printers. The reason is the "sheen" or metallic finish on the paper that is used to finish the paper and get that nice metallic quality. That being said it is not improbable that you couldn't use in your inkjet (cause I have). You would have to change you printers saturation setting and ink setting (bump the saturation up 2 points or so to come closer to the color). Increase the ink flow setting to as high as possible. The metallic papers are very porous and "drink" up the ink on the ink jet.

    For that reason I would recommend seeing if you can design and take to a Kinkos or Officemax and have it printed digitally with a laser to ensure your quality and that it adheres to the paper with no drying time or loss of color.

    If you are looking for other metallic papers, I also recommend Envelopements line (some run through ink jet only and others run laser - like their metallics). They have all kinds of shapes and sizes!

    I hope this helps if you have any specific questions, I will gladly answer :) Always happy to help a fellow NJ Bride out!!
