DJ and lighting

Hi everyone,

It seems like there has been a few posts about this already but I wanted to be more specific. I am getting married at the Hamilton Park Hotel in Florham Park and have started looking for a DJ. We are on a budget and trying to spend no more then 2000 for 5 hours of music and simple lighting. I am not sure if that is reasonable or not. If I could spend less, super but I want it to be great. I have only met with Vito from Dash of Class so far who seemed really nice.

Can I have some recs for a DJ company and specific DJ?

Thanks,
Katie

I'm working with Colorblind Blind Productions, they are a husband and wife team. I'm using them for my ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. We're also getting a personalized gobo. I'm paying $1400.

We're using Infinity Entertainment and payign 1500 I think? That includes a piano player for the cocktail hour and DJ and emcee.

I'm not sure yet if I'm using them, but we were quoted $1500 by Primetime Entertainers in Somerset.  That included music for cocktail hour and reception, 1 DJ/emcee, and a lighting package with uplighting, personalized gobo, simple dance floor lights.

I just booked my own DJ, Sounds to Go. They fit within your budget. Mike, the owner, is super nice and friendly. I know I'm just doing music for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception but they do lighting as well.

Not to sound silly but what is a gobo?

It's usually the couple's monogram, either on the dance floor or project on a wall.
