HORRIFIC DJ!

FI & I went to a wedding last weekend that had an AWFUL DJ. They didn't mix the songs well, the music sometimes skipped or just stopped, they kept the music loud during dinner, nothing really matched (ie playing Usher then Frank Sinatra? really?) and he played the hokey pokey *headdesk*
Am I allowed to just say who it was? I don't want to offend anyone... but it looks like this DJ works a lot in Monmouth & Ocean Counties.

I don't mind posting it here but what if someone used them at their wedding & LOVED them? Or if my friend is a lurker here & sees that I hated her DJ?

I have to be honest.. this doesn't really sound like an "AWFUL" dj... First off, the music they played is entirely dependent on what the couple wanted. Maybe the couple wanted the hokey pokey. Were there little kids at the wedding? (FMIL wants it played for our niece, but we're not allowing it). Maybe they wanted an eclectic variety of music all mixed together.. and maybe the music skipping or just stopping had something to do with the electricity or wiring at the venue itself and wasn't entirely the DJ's fault? Most DJ's play their music through a computer, so it can't "skip" like a cd or a record would. Were they using Cds or records? Did the couple tell you that they were upset with the DJ as well, or is all of this just your personal preference?
It just kind of bugs me when people complain about what music a DJ played at a wedding, because that is personal preference, and doesn't mean they are an awful DJ in everybody's eyes... that being said, I'm not trying to defend them, I have no idea who they are, nor do I care..but to go around bad mouthing them without all of the facts and details is a little harsh IMO.  (If this was YOUR dj at YOUR wedding, it would be a little different).

Um yes, the bride did not like them. She asked them NOT to play certain songs (I HEARD her ask them not to play) and they did ANYWAY. I understand that music is a PERSONAL preference but when the dance floor clears for more than 5 songs in a row, maybe it's b/c NO ONE wants to hear or dance to that music. Keeping the music ridiculously loud during dinner so people have to scream across the table at each other also makes no sense to me & I'm sure other people would agree. It's common sense to lower the music & play something more relaxing during dinner time. I'm sure my friend didn't say "Hey guys can you please play super loud techno during dinner?"
Yes, they played music through a computer but if the song is CORRUPTED, it CAN skip and it DID. He kept a song on "loop" for a long time as well & it was strange.
In my opinion the music choices were not great and people left early complaining about the DJ... I understand that that is subjective but I also think that the DJ wasn't great at DJing (not just the music he played).
Everyone on here posts reviews. Isn't that the point of this board? To talk about vendors in the area & bounce ideas off each other? If you want a DJ who plays the Hokey Pokey, skips music, screams into the microphone, and doesn't know how to blend songs, then I'm happy to give you their name.

... well if the bride didn't like them why not just post it instead of tons of PMs? there are pleanty of vendors I met with that were highly reccomended here and I strongly disliked them.

I already said that I didn't have any problems posting who it is. There have been other threads where people have had problems with vendors but DON'T say who it is. I didn't know if that was the norm.

I also think it's one thing for a bride to complain about her own wedding than a person who was in her wedding to say anything about it.

But in any case, it was Cisco's Premier DJ in Middletown.

If your friend also didn't like her DJ, then why would you be worried that she might see this? Wouldn't she be happy that you are spreading the word about how awful they were?
I really just don't like reviews about vendors when you haven't PERSONALLY used them.

Like I said in my previous post... I think it's one thing for a BRIDE to complain about their OWN vendor than someone who attended their wedding. I would never call up my friend and be like "Hey you were right in hating your DJ, he really sucked!" Even when she complained about him at the wedding to me, I said "Everyone's having fun, don't even worry about it!" But that's just my opinion & I already posted who the DJ was.
