Newbie Photographer

I'm on a very strict budget, but don't want a crappy photographer. Has any one gone with a newbie photographer who they liked? Trying to stay under $1000 and all I need is the shooting and a CD/DVD.

I think there are a few $1,000 photographers advertising on TK.  I'm sure there are any number of them on CraigsList.

Everyone has their budget and you need to work within it, but photographers down in that price range come with some risk:  certainly, they're not truly pros and are doing this "on the side" which means they're only moderately skilled and experienced, I have to guess that most are not insured, and they're probably working with lower quality equipment and may not even have back-up.

I think you vastly improve on the quality and reliabilty of your photographer by the time you get to $2k.  We shopped photography pretty hard and are excited about our choice and his CD-only package was only $2300 (we plan on doing albums, though). 

If photography is important to you, I have to believe there's another place in your budget you can cut $1k to pay for a better photographer.  IMO, of course.

Agree with above, the difference in 995 to 2K is typically night and day.  Find the best photographer you can, and then maybe squeeze down the hours of coverage to get more into your budget.

I'm using Gary From. He's a little over your budget and very proffessional. I chose him for his artistic ability not his price. You can google his website.

Also,word of advice, allot of photographers with a cheap price often hire many photographers then use the best as there advertising and then give you one of the worst for you. Make sure you see sample of YOUR photographer not the companies.

A couple of photographers offer packages around $1k for just the shooting and the DVD. The photographer that we went with package started around there but once you add on albums and other things the price will jump up.
