WWYD

So I just found out that our photographer (husband and wife team) are getting a divorce.  I heard through a friend of a friend.  I was promised 2 shooters at my wedding.  Should I call there and see what is going on?  If my contract says 2 shooters and he says I cant have one can I get my $ back to find someone else?  How would you handle the delicate situation?

Are both names on the contract? That's a sticky situation but I'd review your contract. I'm sure they have many other clients in the same circumstances and my guess would be that they're dividing up the clients or one is taking all of the business. I feel like it's their personal business to sort out, but I completely understand you being concerned. I'd just go over your contract line by line before contacting them.

I'd give them some time to see if they contact you directly with a solution.

If you were promised two shooters, and that's in your contract, then I assume that you will get one of them and another photographer. They probably have friends and network connections in the photography industry that they can bring in. Or at the very least they should refund you some money.

But, yeah, I wouldn't call them and say, "Hey, I heard you're divorcing! So how will this affect my wedding?" Not only because it's polite and compassionate to wait for them to contact you, but you want to give them the chance to be professional and handle it without you having to ask.

Give them some time to contact you as I'm sure they are trying to figure out how they are handling things on their side. They may be contacting their peers to see who may be available as the second shooter. If they cannot guarantee a second photographer I would assume you would get a refund.

That is an awful situation for wedding photographers to be divorcing. Talk about hating to have to go to work, but I digress.

I think you should do what smw said and go through your contract to see what it says but also wait it out to see whether they contact you. You were promised two photographers, but was it specifically the husband and wife? Like mbc and kwilkinson said, they might contact their peers or friends to fill in for the other spouse.

Or who knows, their marriage may not have worked out, but perhaps they are better business partners than spouses?

I was told specifially that it was both the husband and the wife, and shown pictures of both.  This was told to me in confidence. I am assuming they arent telling their clients as of now.  I was told by a friend in the business who was told in confidence.  I only booked them because it was the husband and wife and I saw their work and oved it.  I will review the contract I guess and then give them a call and just see how things are going.

They may still put their relationship issues aside from the nature of the business, never know...
