Waterside in North Bergen Reviews and Cost

Hi-I saw a few reviews on here on the Waterside but I'm wondering if there's any recent brides who did a site visit or had their wedding here. I read lots of positive reviews so I'm really excited to check this place out but I'm wondering if anyone has ideas on cost. I saw one bride on here said she paid $160 which included tax and grat. This seems high and out of our price range. Does anyone know if they're willing to negotiate based on food selection, time of year etc

Thanks

Re: Waterside in North Bergen Reviews and Cost

  • My fiance and I looked at this. Compared to the other venues in the area it's not a horrible price and they seem extremely willing to work with you. We thought the rooms were great, but definitely would take the time to sit in the restaurant and try the food before coming back for a second look. We hypothetically asked if we wanted to eliminate one of the stations during cocktail hour for the ice cream bar. Our contact (I think her name was Nicole) got back to me the same day as our first appointment and said her manager said we could switch it at no charge, since it was equivalent pricing.

My fiance and I really wanted more of a midtown NYC skyline view, and we ended up picking The Chart House over Waterside, but Waterside was going to be our second choice most likely.
  • I had a great experience with Waterside - got married Oct 2011 and would highly recommend them.  We had booked the venue in Dec 2010 w/in the first year of Waterside being under new ownership.  We had our wedding on a Sunday and they worked with us to fit the wedding to our budget.  Their ability to negotiate may have changed as they have grown their business signficantly in the last few years since the new ownership (family run) and have make lots of improvements.  I had a wonderful experience working with Frances (one of the owners) and Shantel. Our wedding had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Irene and they were so fantastic to make a stressful situation go off without any problems.

I'd recommend going in their for a visit and if you are hoping to negotiate be flexible on a date.

One note:  on Fridays they now have "FAME FRIDAYS" where the first floor becomes a full on nightclub around 10pm.  I'm not sure what they do when weddings are booked on a Friday, but its worth asking about what may be going on during your event.

PM me if you have any questions - i'm happy to help out
  • Hi There! We are getting married at Waterside this October. I absolutely loved it and they have been nothing but a pleasure to work with so far. We are so excited!

We were quoted and signed our contract for $160 pp (this included tax and gratuity) for a Friday evening.  We guaranteed 130 people but will most likely be around 165. Also, we did opt to take out the seafood bar portion on the menu for the cocktail hour as well as the duck, which took it down $15 pp before the tax and gratuity was added. It does seem pricey but when you compare it to Liberty House in JC it's not nearly as bad (I was quoted $200 pp there for a Friday night). They are very willing to work with your budget, you just have to ask (my fiance played the negotiator haha).

Also, please keep in mind that these are 2013 prices (we booked in June 2012). I wouldn't be surprised if they were slightly higher for 2014. You should check out their FB page, they also have one if you do a search on FB for Waterside NJ Weddings. I check it all the time for new photos haha. Good luck with your venue search!!
