Ambient DJ or any other DJ...

Finding a DJ is one of the things that is lingering in my to-do list and that I can't seem to wrap my head around.  I did however, come across the website/blog for Ambient DJ and they piqued my interest.  Have any knotties used them? Been to a wedding where they DJed?  Please share, any opinions and if you have any, suggestions for another DJ.

I'm looking for someone that knows music, knows what makes people dance, won't manhandle my guests and that is familiar with spanish music - Spanish Rock and Old School Salsa/Merengue preferred.  I'm NOT a fan of Spanish Rap and Reggaeton...

But I digress... It's late. I'm having nightmares about Pauly D DJing my wedding so any suggestions would be helpful.  Thanks ladies!

Catalina

I'm unfamiliar with that DJ, sorry.

Here's who we used for our wedding. I don't know if he's familiar with Spanish music (although since it's a company maybe they have someone else who is), but he did an excellent job for our reception and he's a nice guy so I'd highly recommend him: http://www.fantasydjs.com/bob_albrecht.php

We were looking for a bilingual DJ (English and Spanish) and the only one we really liked that was in our budget was Colorblind Productions.  It's a husband and wife team and they're both Puerto Rican and do tons of different multicultural events.

FI was concerned at first because he's from South America and didn't want our reception to be nothing but Puerto Rican salsa and reggaeton, so we had to make sure they knew old school salsa, merengue, cumbia, etc.  When we met with them they showed us videos of events they've done for Colombian couples and that sold FI.

    Their website is: www.colorblindprd.com

We are using Steve Guillen Productions in Wayne, NJ.  He is fully bilingual and has been great to work with so far.

    Thanks for the help gals.

Peaches, I actually looked at Colorblind but they were booked for the day of my wedding but thanks for the suggestion -- I did like them very much :)

Vivianna, thanks so much for the suggestion, I actually reached out to Steve and we had an fantastic conversation.  He's Peruvian like me so I feel a little bit a of familiarity already :).  We set up a meeting for next week, I'm super excited.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the knot and love it! Being able to share suggestions is so helpful. I too am in search for a DJ. I'm hoping to stay around $2,000 if possible and after checking out a couple it looks like that is reasonable. What do you guys think? I started looking at all your recommendations and any others would be great! My fiance is Egyptian so half of the guests will be the same so we will want to have some Arabic music as well. Thanks!!

ask for Victor, he is from Peru and indeed a good spanish dj

However, I was too late when I tried to book him and instead went with 3D DJ, he is not hispanic, our dj was not hispanic but he played really good spanish music and the MC Bob did an outstanding job, he was really professional throughout the whole process
