Florist for Bergen County

Hi Girls,

I have been to two florist already and I can't seem to find what I like. I want to have one of those tree/candle/crstle type of centerpeice. Something simple yet elegant without too much flowers. I was wondering can you reccomanda florist? What prices did you pay for centerpieces/bouques/huppa?  Has anyone done any DIY projects for centerpieces?

Thanks
Elona

Manzanitas, which are the thick branches that I think you are referring to,  are a little on the expensive side. I was told at *least* $100-150. However, I am achieving a similar look with curly willow, which is strong enough to dangle crystals on. I purchased the cyrstals separately at G&G which is in Saddle Brook.

I recommend Metropolitan Florist in Saddle Brook. My friend use them in 2010 (regular floral centerpieces) and they were gorgeous. While I wasn't the hugest fan of the woman I worked with (she basically said I was't spending enough on flowers to get a bouquet trial, I was just eligible for a centerpiece trial - - I forget what her name was), she does nice work. My friend worked with Yumila, whom she said was very compromising. Although, my friend spend a lot more money (3-5k) versus my $700, so I do not know if that has something to do with it. If I were you, perhaps ask to get an appointment with Yumila.

At any rate, I would check them out if I were you and make a decision for yourself. They definitely do beautiful work

So far I have only visited Metropolitan in Saddle Brook. Again I am only doing fresh flowers, although my bouquet will be a brooch bouquet that they will then incorporate the fresh flowers into. I thought that their prices were reasonable and they had some of those crystal manzanitas on display.

For those of you working w/ Metropolitan- how much did you spend on your bouquet? Im getting the impression that you have to spend at least $150?

Did you HAVE to spend that? Would they do it for less? I was getting the impression they would not.

I have no idea, I didn't really ask.  Most of the prices I had seen online and heard from other people made that price seem about right since I had a large round bouquet of roses and hydrangeas.

I am working with Yumila at Metro, she is wonderful! I know a few people that had used her in the past so I just went there with no quesiton.  It appears they are a little more pricey than other florists I've seen on here that knotties are using.  I did question maybe going to check out others to save the money, but I LOVE what Yumila put together for me.  I was planning on making my own centerpieces because I didn't want anything with flowers, but I fell in love with the look of the branches and hanging crystals that they have on display there.  She made up something for me in a price range I was comfortable with and I went out and got my own crystals and votives next door at G&G.

I'm using Anna at Flower Elegance in Fair Lawn.  The prices were a bit on the higher side, but she really "gets" Jewish weddings.  Most other places showed pictures of the one or two chuppahs they provide, but Anna showed multiple pictures and said that they can work with whatever to come up with what you want.

We're going to have a basic chuppah with organza, maybe some flowers, but not many.  The price is about $600 (it's almost all in the labor).

She's also letting me provide my own vases and candles to keep the costs down.

my bouquet is $85 @ Metropolitan. All roses. I told her what I wanted to spend on centerpieces, bouquets, etc. The only thing that couldn't be changed here bouts and corsages.
