Recommend your (North) Jersey Bridal Salon

I haven't been on much since our wedding in October, but my sister-in-law is now getting married, and we're looking for bridesmaid dresses.

Can anyone make a recommendation for a north Jersey bridal salon? (The ones you liked, as well as the ones we should avoid...)

I disliked Helen Bohn, Park Avenue, and David's Bridal in Wayne.

I've had nothing short of an amazing experience at Russell's in Linden with both my dress and my BM dresses.

Avoid Park Ave bridal in Verona.  A few years back I got a bridesmaid dress there and first they said no cost for alterations, then they ended up charging me $50 for alterations because aparently Im  "too short" and they had to do a lot more alterations for me than the other girls in the bridal party.  Also the place is dirty and everyone in there is stupid and rude.  And they are over priced in general.

Tina's Bridal in Totowa is good.  If you buy the dress there they do alterations for free.  I got my dress here for another wedding I was in and everyone there was so nice!

i got my dress from Davids Bridal in Wayne and had a great experience there.  I would stay away from the David's in Paramus, their customer service was lacking.

I just went with a friend of mine to Helen Bohn and they were wonderful there as well, she didn't end up getting her dress there, she ended up at kleinfelds in NYC but not because of the service.  Bijou bridal in Paramus is also great, and I know several people that got their dresses there and had a great experience.

I have actually heard some nightmare stories about Tina's in Totowa, not so much the dress buying part but the alterations.

I also had great experiences at Russell's in Linden. Their prices are reasonable, they did a great job with alterations and had a good selection. I didn't have a bad experience at Dolores Bridal in Menlo Park, but basically all the dresses were discontinued, so that was a turnoff for me.

I was very pleased with the service and alterations at Jaehee Bridal in Englewood.  Although, I already knew what wedding dress I wanted to order when I went there.

We used Noncholance in Morristown for our BM dresses and got a discount for ordering all of them there.  My BMs all live in NY so we did not use them for alterations.  The order process was great and the dresses arrived when promised.

Would not recommend Davids Bridal in Paramus. Terrible experience there with alterations.

I don't know if you really consider East Brunswick "North Jersey" but my girls and
I are using The Bridal Center Boutique off Route 18 (right next door to David's Bridal). They've been great so far. They definitely have a lot more bridesmaid dresses than wedding gowns. But they are super sweet. I haven't had my alterations done yet (and since 4 of my 5 bridesmaids are out of state, I don't think they'll be using them) but I'm sure they'll be great.

They carry Alfred Angelo and Bill Levkoff, and I'm sure other ones too I just can't remember. They'll also give you a little discount for more than 4-5 girls.

    Hope this helps!

I'm ording my BM dresses from there as well, hopefully next week! I thought they had a good selection and we also received a discount since we are ordering 5 dresses. All of my girls are in NJ except one, who is in Boston. They have all the forms on their site so that wasn't a problem at all. Glad to hear they arrived on time!

I used Non Chalance in Morristown NJ. Loved them!!! Good selection and if you have enough in your bridal party you can get 20-25% off the dress you choose. Don't know if you need it, but they also have a descent amount of flower girl dresses to choose from.

recommend exquisite bride in milburn.  and Pris of Boston in short hlls. wonderful experiences at both..

no go to park ave bridal - they made me get extra legnth which ended up costing $$ money and charged me so much to alter it, when the only alternation that they did was to hem the bottom, which was really just chopping off the extra length!  not cool.

I would highly recommend Bijou Bridal in Paramus, they were fantastic and a lifesaver after my first dress was RUINED - see my next comment....

I would HIGHLY SUGGEST AVOIDING BRIDALS BY ROMA AT ALL COSTS!!!! It is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Nonchalance as well! So far they have been great, huge discount for ordering 4 dresses there and they are even doing the dirty work for me by calling one straggeling BM and getting her to finish her order :)

I didn't purchase from here but I tried on gowns one night and the woman even stayed late to show me gowns because she was the only one in the area that carried the Maggie I was interested in. I 2nd this shop as well as Hollywood Bridal.

I had a wonderful experience @ Park Avenue. Anyone whom I spoke with or told where I went had also wonderful things to say about their experiences. Went with my BM and they could not have been happier with the choice of store ,selection of dresses and ease of ordering. They were all told of any extra charges if any upfront and they were comparable with other places on alteration pricing.
I believe any store is a hit or miss on how you are treated and what the selection is. I have had many friends who went to Russels for the selection and closeness to their home and do not have anything nice to say except they loved their dress.

Good luck and enjoy the process...
