Creative ideas for place cards?!

Hi girls,

I was wondering if you guys used the venues place cards or bought your own? I was trying to find some stuff at staples and Michael's but they didn't have many color options? any ideas? i'm about to abort mission and use the venues cards, 1 month to go until my wedding!!

I had a women,Ilene, on etsy make mine.  She created a design for me in my wedding colors and included the name and table number.  Her store on etsy is IDSM Printing.  I also used her for my save the dates and favor tags, she has been amazing to work with.  I highly recommend her, if you want to get them made.

We didn't use the venue's cards (to be honest, I don't even know if they had cards... kind of doubt it).  We used plain white cards, in grass:

The coolest I've seen at a wedding we've been to were cards that were made to look exactly like LIRR tickets (the couple met on the train).

I didn't like the venue's cards so I made my own. That was my one DIY project.

I got colored cards from paper-source.com. They have a lot of color options available.

We had a photobooth so I made the placecards to fit inside the photobooth frames.

I was thinking about ordering a monogram cake topper for a friend of mine as a wedding gift and those these were really cool. There are a few that go on top of wine bottles as table number holders. Pretty cute.

I will be cutting out numbers and putting the guest names on them. They will be tied around the favor. So it will act as both favor/escort card.

I am doing tickets.  We are having a small baseball theme so the front will look like a baseball ticket and the back will have some text explaining the donation we are giving.

One of the neatest things I ever saw was at a wedding where they had a sea-shore theme.  The place cards were all inserted into tiny plastic bottles along with miniature sea shells, sea horses, fish, etc.
