PSA: WageWorks

So I just found out about this and feel like an idiot I didn't know before. For anyone that uses public transportation to commute- www.wageworks.com

This is my first month using it, and instead of paying $315 for my monthly bus ticket I'm paying $230 PRE TAX! Saving $85/month. That's some good cash- and it comes directly out of my paycheck. Sweeeeeeeet.

Do you have to set it up through work? My bus pass just went up from $184 to $230 :(

How long is your bus ride every day? Don't you live near Red Bank?

You go on the website and put in your info, where you work etc. If your company is a part of it (which from what I hear, most are) then you just sign up. I went with the option for it to give me a credit card (like a gift card) that just has the amount I need for the month. It then comes out pre-tax from your paycheck.

Yup, I'm around Red Bank. I take the bus from the PNC Arts Center (exit 116 off GSP) and it depends on the day. The ride is anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour on a good/normal day, to 2+ hours on a TERRIBLE day (which has only been like 4 times in my 2+ years)

Oohhhh!! FI just got a new job in Philly and the only down side to it is the cost of commuting by train into the city.  Thanks for the info!  I hope he's able to use this.
