Cards and Pockets question

Its a little early but I am looking at invite ideas. For those that used Cards and Pockets, would you be able to give me an average idea of what you ended up paying per invite? Did it end up being a bargain or would it of cost about the same just getting them made elsewhere either online or in a store?

Also, was it hard to assemble? I was going to order a sample kit just to get an idea of what it looks like. How many parts do you need in a typical invite (Im clueless and havent saved anyone elses wedding invites to look at). Im having a church wedding and then need to include info about the reception site as well as RSVP. Anything else I need to include?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get an idea of what we need so I can budget for it and get it ready 6-8 months from now. Thanks!

PS- I think I decided on black, silver, and soft pink for our wedding colors and want an invite that includes either a ribbon or rhinestones, so if anyone has seen anything you think would look great w/ these colors, please let me know! Thanks so much!

I used a kit that I got from Michael's and made them myself, they probably ended up costing a little less than $1 per invite.
Things to include in your invite:
    1. Reception Info and Directions
    2. RSVP card
    3. Menu Card (only if they need to select their Entree in the RSVP card)
    4. Hotel Accommodations and Directions

That was everything included in mine.  oh and the Invite of course. :)

Other girls on here will be able to help you with where to get them made and the cost, as oppose to making them yourself.

I've done a boatload of "Pocket" research.

First it depends on what type of pocket you are looking for.
    Square? Rectangular?
How do you want it to open?
    My suggestion visit these sites:
www.paper-source.com (there is a store right in Princeton where you can go fro help)
    www.paperandmore.com
    www.cardsandpockets.com

These 3 sites will give you lots of examples.  You'll see most site you can order a sample from for as little as a $1. (Cards and Pockets are a bit different though)

For my pockets I want a Signature type of pocket. Although cards and pockets has a nice one- I think the right pocket is too small.
Paper and more have great pockets, but their dark stardream (stardream = sparkley) blue almost looked like black..
So I think I am going to have to buy some paper and make my own.  There are a few tutorials on www.weddingbee.com (search in there) on making you own pocketfolds.

    As for as pricing goes:
making them myself is going to be about $0.44 cents per pocketfold made.  I ordered 12x12 paper from www.anchorpaper.com . My FI thinks I am NUTS and totally offered to pay the extra 40-something cents to buy them, but I am adament about paper color and sizing of the pocket fold.  (because I am such a wacko I am going to have to make my own RSVP envelopes too)

Paper and More charge $41.00 for 50 (this is the best price i've seen around) $0.82 cents each

Cards and Pockets were the next afforable  and then Paper-source.

Lots of smaller ivitation shops will charge you $1-$1.50 per pocketfold..

    As far as inserts:
    Like felcia mentioned:
    1) main invitation
    2) RSVP card is a must
    3) directions/map
    4) hotel/guest information
    5) reception card - I am not doing one of these because my ceremony and reception are in the same location.  My main invite will say "reception to follow"

Remember it's your wedding.. you decide how much "stuff" you want to stick in with your invitation.

Best advice, check out Knottie Bios on the DIY board  and check out weddingbee

I used cards and pockets to do our panel card invites. I did the design myself in photoshop and they printed all the materials (invite, rsvp, reception card, direction card, envelope liner which they glued) and they cut the pieces to the correct size. In the end it cost us about $4-5 per invite. The assembly (which I was dreading) really only took me one dedicated day and the end result is gorgeous. I'd highly recommend using them. I was very particular about what I wanted and the design, colors, style, size and I was able to customize everything throguh c&p. Could I have gotten invites cheaper elsewhere? Yes- but not ones that I designed every element and to the same quality.

I didnt use cards and pockets but I did make my own pocketfold.  It ended up being less than $1 per invite.

I made the pockets from paper from anchor paper and I calculated that if you did the invite longways like I did you used less paper and wasted less.  The pocketfolds themselves cost .36.  I only did an insert with a map to the hotel and the rsvp card.
