Name change question-car registration

So I had my license done today and I just realized that I need to update the registration for my car.....UGH. do i have to go back to the dmv or do they just send an updated reg. card?

i remember when i moved they just sent the stickers with the new address.

I did it at the same time in the DMV- they actually reminded me. They just printed a new one out for a couple of dollars.  I also had to change my car insurance.

I had to do mine at the DMV too.
I did it the same day I changed my license, but it WAS 2 different lines.
Then I changed the insurance after the registration was changed.

You actually don't need to change the registration card, because it is already in the DMV system.  You can keep your old one until the registration expires and they will automatically send you a new one with your new name (as it appears on your license) If you get pulled over, when they run your license they will see the change in your registration, no big deal. So no need to go back to DMV.

Only because I specifically asked them this when I was on the license line in an attempt to avoid the registration line, and they told me I HAD to......
I guess its always possible they were just trying to squeeze the extra $11 out of me, but my advice to the OP'er would be to double check with the DMV website, just in case.</font>
