My skin is breaking out BADLY... HELP!!

Knotties,
HELP ME PLEASE!!!
I am now 2 weeks from my makeup trial (6 weeks from wedding day) and my skin looks worse than it did when I was a teenager. What the heck??!!??
I have always used Proactiv since my teens, but in moderation... when I use all 3 steps it just dries me out too much.
I now have tiny bumps (not white and or black heads) just bumps practically all over my face.
I have tried using a baking soda exfoliator every week, lemon & honey exfoliator, and tea tree oil. But NOTHING is working.
I feel like my breakouts are getting worse the more I stress about them.
Oh... and don't start with the diet & water thing... I'm already doing that!
OMG, I'm freaking out here!!!
HELP!!

  • This happened to me about a year ago when I switched birth control pills. I switched back quickly but my skin took months to heel. The Mario Badescu acne line really worked for me. I used the Drying Mask alternated daily with the Healing and Soothing mask, which combats the dryness. I also use the Seaweed Cleansing Lotin which is an astringent. My skin is very sensitive, but this seemed to work for me. My skin is now clear and i just have to spot treat with the masks ocasionally. They sell their products online and in some Nordstrom stores. They also have a spa in the city that does free skin consultations to see what products are right for your skin. With all of that said, different things work for different people so I would also try to get a Dermatoligist appointment just to see what they recommend. Good luck I hope you did something that works for you!

  • Could you make an appointment with a dermatologist?  This happened to my skin last year and she was able to perscribe stuff that made it go away in no time.  Also, try to take some time out of the day to relax and maybe do some breathing exercises.  Stress can do ridiculous things to the body.

Definitely go to the doctor ASAP and if it doesn't get any better, keep going back. I got bad poison ivy 2 weeks before my wedding and thought I was going to go insane. The first doctor gave me a cream that did nothing. I finally went to a derm that have me a steroid and got me through the day. Don't wait and good luck.

  • I agree with all the ladies.  I would also add to go back to your regular face washing routine.  After you wash your face at night apply a small amount of organic unrefined virgin coconut oil (can be found at WalMart and food store).  Start just a small amount to start and add as you go.  You don't want your face to be a greasy mess but just enough.  My face broke out awful last year and I tired it ALL!!  Either stayed the same or got worse.  Then I thought. go back to basic - use a gental face wash and something natural, not all the creams and lotions.  My face cleared up a lot and has stayed that way.  Coconut oil is amazing stuff.  Watch your hair line tho if you don't plan to shower in the morning... it'll make your hair look greasy.

  • My doc prescribed me erithromycin (not sure if i spelled that correctly) pads which is an antibiotic to use twice daily... they are wonderful. The pill also helps, but between the two, my skin is a million times better... worth a shot! Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies!!! I have tried to relax (ugh... my mom isn't helping!) and went back to the basics after giving myself a nice steam facial followed by a mask treatment. Tings are starting to clear up. Maekup trial went great, now it's the first dress fitting tomorrow that has me all stressed!
    Thanks!! :)
