2 weddings at once -thoughts? (LONGish)

I'm posting this on here, because really I want all of you to tell me not to worry and everything will still be perfect....but also, I really want your opinions of this situation. I'm going to attempt to leave out names/places. I just want some comfort in this area since it's causing me a bit of a last minute panic:

When we booked our wedding over a year ago we noticed that the ball rooms were adjacent to one another. FI and I were immediately like...ohh...we do NOT want another wedding happening across the hall from us. So we repeatedly asked our coordinator- is their any way to prevent this from happening?  She told us in her three years of working there she has never had 2 weddings in one day on memmorial day weekend. She also told us, she would block off parts of the ballroom across from us to asure there wouldn't be a wedding going on at the same time across from us.
Let me add here, that I am also in the hospitality business. I do realize that business is business. Money is money. I get that.
BUT - she pretty much promised us that IF there was another wedding, it would be earlier in the day.
Now here we are 2 weeks until the wedding. I had asked her about a month ago if there was another wedding goin on that day. She told me their "might" be ...but much earlier in the day. I said, no problemo!!
Finally this weekend, via e-mail I asked her again - is there another wedding - and when.
This is when she told me, there is and it is 500pm - 1030pm  (our wedding is 6pm-midnight). And yes, it is taking place across the hall from our wedding.
What gets me here is not that this is happening (see: business is business) but more that I feel really lied to. She didn't come to FI and tell us, we needed to repeatedly ask.

Now I'm just kinda nervous about having a wedding going on directly across a hall from us. I foresee the parties mingling, I forsee their music blaring when I don't want it to be, I'm fairly sure there's only 1 set of bathrooms - so now, that party gets to use my bathroom baskets that I made?

Ugh.

Please calm me down someone.

There's nothing you can do now! Just enjoy everything and try not to focus on it. I'm sure the other party feels the same way you do. I'm sure you'll be so into everything the day of and so excited to be married you won't even notice.

Unfortunately, you can't do anything about the other wedding. I would think for the most part your guests and you are going to be in your ballroom. I am sure like pp stated you are going to be so excited and happy to be married you won't even notice the other wedding. If the wedding parties are going to be using the same facilities the most you can do is perhaps make a little sign to say "Last name" Wedding. Hopefully, the other guests will not be rude and take the items from the baskets. Also, you never know the other bride may bring her own baskets. You will probably bump into other guests but I think people generally understand it is going to happen and not make to much of it. Just take a breath and relax.

I feel that you have to make the best of this and have a positive attitude about it because you can't change it.  Hey, maybe the bride next door will be a fellow Knottie!

I would express to her that you feel decieved and ask her what she can do to make you feel better.  Ask her what steps she is going to take the day of the wedding to minimize your interaction with the other bride.

Don't worry about the bathroom baskets--what's a tampon between friends! Laughing

do you have a DOC? she can make sure noone from that party comes into yours once their wedding is done, since that would be the only thing i'd worry about.

I agree, no sense in worrying about it now. It won't bother you if you don't allow it to.

In the meantime, just trust that the hall's staff will manage things properly.

Need to come to terms with it now since they are not going to be cancelling the other wedding.  But, it is really wrong that they did make a representation to you which turned out to not be true.  Moreover, given that you expressed this months before, they could have a least called you when they booked the other wedding to give you the heads up.  I would make it very clear to them that you are not happy with the situation and ask them how they can rectify it.  Tell them that you may very well have picked a different venue had you kown this would be the case. Maybe they will compensate in some way.  Also, make sure there isnt a parking problem, etc and ask them how they will handle that.

in any event, your wedding will still be wonderful and don't let it bother you once the day comes.  I have been to plenty of weddings where there were other weddings taking place and I didn't think twice about it.  I was focused on the party I was at!

LOL MBC - I'm kinda having trust issues with the hall in itself. This isn't the first deceiving thing they've done.

That said, agree with all PP that I just have to be happy it is my day and not worry about it.
Thanks for positive thoughts! Anyone else been in a similar situation?

My other issue is, I don't want to express how angry I am with them - because they are the type of place to :
A - not care or do anything
B- get angry at me for being angry (see: spite)

ecg - i may be in the same situation. my reception venue has three separate halls. however, the banquet manager who i have spoken with stated that there will never be three events. she doesn't let her staff book three separate events. But she did clearly express that another event could be booked although it would not be a wedding. it is just year (wedding is next may) away and things could change. she was honest and open and so far no deception on their end. i am okay with it b/c it seems they would handle themselves professionally.

I understand why you are mad. I think I would be too. But there is nothing you can do now. It sucks that they lied to. I would probably express that I was mad about it to them at some point, if you haven't already! Don't stress about it now! Everything will work out fine. It is your day and you will probably not even notice the other people!

I def see why you are mad and def agree with you. This could have been your deciding factor had they been honest with you. I looked at a few places like this..it was the case with the hotels that I looked at that had this problem of the weddings going on right next door to each other, and I flat out asked the place, and they too said it's not likely but it could happen. I said do you not book if that is the case to them and they said if another wedding party comes in and doesn't care if there is another wedding they will do it. I felt like the places that did that didn't care about my business but the other parties business. It sounds like if you asked a month ago and they said there may be a wedding going on that day , it's a last min type of wedding. I think you should def say something though to see what they will do to make sure that your day goes smoothly without the interaction of the other wedding there.

I was just at a wedding recently at a hotel that had ballrooms right across from each other, and there was two weddings go on.   Honestly, it wasn't a problem at all.  They staggered the start times a bit and when people were arriving it wasn't all at the same time.    I am sure they deal with this quite often as they are not going to turn people away that want to spend money at their venue.  Don't worry about it, everything will work out fine!

That sucks, but when you book at a place with multiple ballrooms, that is what you could get.  If you didnt want that, you should have picked a venue with one ballroom.  But honestly you cant control it now and dont obsess over it, just focus on your great party! You will have a blast!

PS- It just shows you how sly salepeople can be at wedding halls!

I have been to plenty of weddings where there was another event going on at the same time.  It was a non-issue.  You will not hear their music from your room and even if they are co-mingling in the bathrooms it's not like they would even notice! As it is, I don't usually know most of the guests at a wedding so I would have no idea if there was someone from another party in the bathroom.
