The Palace @ Somerset or Addison Park

Hi Girls,

I am trying to decide on my venue and am completely torn between both The Palace and Addison Park for my venue. Prices are both comparable that it doesn't sway us to one over the other. They both have different atmosphere and style with more of an old traditional palace feel for the Palace and modern elegance for AP. We like both decor just not sure which way we want to go. I would prefer outdoor pictures which I feel you don't get quite as many outdoor spots with the Palace however I like the separation from the other wedding and staircase entrance in the ballroom. That said, I prefer the grand foyer staircase for photos and wow factor for guests on arrival in AP to the foyer for the West Entrance Ballroom at the Palace. I would appreciate any recommendations (pros/cons) about these venues.  Please let me know your thoughts!

I also am considering that most of my family is closer to AP and is older. I should also note that both my fiancé and I are Italian so we are going to want to emphasize great Italian food.

Thanks again, and good luck to all of you!

Hi and welcome! I got married at the Palace in September and it was amazing. The food, the service, the atmosphere... Every detail was beyond our wildest dreams. My husband and I both are Italian too and the food was our #1 priority. DH is a foodie and the chef let us customize our menu to include some traditional items.

For us, we wanted to get married outside and wanted more of a modern feel, which we tried to create with decor and lighting. We were in the smaller ballroom and liked the Pottery Barn feel of the library for our cocktail hour (and that it could also be outside). You are right; it doesn't have the "wow" entrance factor like some venues.  I'll send you a PM to our video and photos so you can get an idea of the decor and photo ops.

I've heard great things about Addison Park too and am sure you'll be happy in either place! Good luck!

I was just in a wedding in Addison Park a few weeks ago and it was beautiful! The food was great and the ballrooms were just amazing!  The bride took some great pictures outside by the fountains and by the staircase.  The only thing was that the other bride from the other wedding was taking pictures right by them and the ballrooms right next to each other. Oh and both weddings share the same bathroom I believe.  I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with either place!

I attended a wedding at Addison. I noticed a lot of things that previous post mentioned. The brides were both taking pictures right next to each other. I didn't like how you had to pass the other ballroom to use the bathroom. The cocktail hour food was good but wasn't impressed with my dinner.

Did you look at Nanina's or The Venetian? I ask because you mentioned you wanted good Italian food and high ratings. I loved the inside of The Palace, but the outside is not nice at all, its in a field surrounded by a big parking lot. We also didnt think they gave you much for the amount they asked.  I cant speak about AP. GL to you!

Thank you all! To Reilly, I did consider the Venetian, the place looks absolutley gorgeous. I am waiting to hear back on what their minimum is. I will be having about 150 guests and I have a feeling their minimum is at least 200.

My wedding in September was at Addison Park and I come from an Italian family where food rules above all!   I wish I could go back and do it all over again.  I am really going to miss the staff there as they were sooooooo accomidating and a great pleasure to work with.  EVERYTHING was perfect!

Also- there are two weddings there at the same time, but the stagger the start time so you are all not arriving or leaving at the same time.  That being said, I did see the other Bride.. but only once out of the whole night.

I absolutely loved the decor at Addison Park (sort of an old hollywood feel).  Feel free to ask me any questions you might have.. but I would NOT change one thing about our wedding at Addison Park.  We had our ceremony outside as well.

PS.  My pictures are slowly trickling in, the bridal suite is GORG for taking pictures.. I mean you can not take a bad picture in that place!

I just got married at The Palace last Friday night and it seriously blew our minds. I can not even begin to describe how amazing the day was because of The Palace. SO many people have already told us it was the best wedding they have EVER been to (including weddings at Pleasantdale Chateau). The service can NOT be beat and the food is to die for. I will be posting reviews soon (currently writing this from our honeymoon while the husband is napping), but trust me - you can NOT go wrong with The Palace!!! Good luck!
