Large Trees in Raleigh

Hello All!

I love the idea of having our ceremony under a large tree, possibly an oak tree. Does anyone know the location of large trees in the Raleigh area that could serve as a venue?

By the way, this is my first post so I will introduce myself- I am Ariana.  I look forward to planning with yall!

Hello and welcome!! Unfortunately im not going to be much help either. I am getting married under a large tree in Chapel Hill at the Carolina Inn (not sure what kind of tree it is though).

There's a park on the east side of town where Poole Road meets the beltline.  It has beautiful trees. It comes up as Oak View Park when I googled it.

I got married under a large oak tree outside of Chapel Hill. Let me know if you are thinking of expanding your potential wedding venue sites.

Mordecai is a great Raleigh City Park venue. There's a chapel there, too, in case of rain.  I've been to a wedding there and it was very nice.  You can get your own caterer. Same with the Borden Building at Fletcher Park.  Also a beautiful area.  Another friend of mine got married there.  Both of these venues are very reasonably priced, too.

We're doing our rehearsal dinner at Montague Pond.  It's privately owned. Looks like there are a lot of beautiful trees out there, but that wasn't my specific interest.  it has a covered area that will accommodate 120.  Also reasonably priced and the property itself is quite large. There are restrictions on amplified entertainment. I found it on a photographer's website because of someone else's wedding being photographed there.  They had there ceremony outside and had put up a tent.

Anderson Point Park looks beautiful on the City's website, but I've never been out there.  We didn't look at it for our RD because of it's distance from our church and I think you have to wrap up before dark.

    Good luck!

There are so many great parks in and around Downtown Raleigh that you really can't go wrong. Do you live close by? Maybe you and your FI could just walk around some time. They also have big beautiful trees on the lawn of the State Capitol.

    Thanks ladies!  Such great advice!

I found a beautiful picture of a couple getting married at Montague Pond in between two trees right in front of the water. That is definitely somewhere we will have to check out!

This past weekend we went to a few parks and the Museum of Natural Sciences and even though we didn't find anything that was quite right, it was fun just to get out and about and see Raleigh!  My fiance grew up in Raleigh but we met in Wilmington and just moved here so everything is new to me!
