Where did you buy your dress?

For those who have purchased their wedding dresses, what stores did you go to? (I'm in North Jersey).

I purchased a dress a few months ago online. Initially i LOVED the dress. I tried it on for my sister and she didnt like it. Then when my mom was in town i tried it on for her and she wasn't too thrilled about it either. I love the dress but i wouldnt be hurt if i had to part ways with it. I'm looking for that WOW factor.

So if you ladies know of AFFORDABLE stores in the area please let me know.

TIA!

Myself and a few other girls on the board had great experiences at exquisite in millburn.  Bijou in paramus was my second stop.  Bought my gown from priscilla of boston, short hills.  Wonderful experience there and fell IN LOVE with my gown :)  on a side note, if you love the dress, that's all that matters!  I wouldn't go looking for another one because my mom or sister didn't love the one I picked.  Good luck :)

I bought my dress from Group USA in Secaucus. I also visited David's Bridal (Not a fan), Macy's in Wayne, and Roma's in Clifton.

My budget was $1000 or less so it was tough for me to find a place but I am super happy with my dress!

I also bought my dress at Group USA. I felt so much more relaxed without having a consultant up my butt (like I felt at David's Bridal). Since my parents paid for my dress, I didn't want to go over $700 & my dress ended up being $264 & I love it.

I bought mine at Bijou in Paramus but also had a great experience at Exquisite in Millburn.  Dresses at Bijou were more affordable than Exquisite.

I'm another Bijou girl.  They were wonderful to work with (ask for Lisa, she's great!)

    Park Avenue Bridals in Verona

Just remember that you will look a lot different with jewelry and a veil (if you want one), plus your hair and makeup done. If YOU love the dress then why get another one?

I looked for dresses/tried dresses on, at Russels in Linden, Davids Bridal in Wayne, Park Ave Bridal, Arlene's Bridal and Hollywood Bridal.
In my experience, David's Bridal doesn't have that big of a selection - although their dresses are less expensive than most other designers.  I only found 2 dresses there that I even wanted to try on.
I found the people at Park Ave to be rude, and their dresses were over priced. I asked them to show me dresses around $800 and they weren't able to find any, other than one on "clearance" that they pulled out of the back room that was all jacked up. We went through every single dress on the racks and I didn't find one dress to try on. I
ended up finding my dress at Arlene's, but I ordered it from Hollywood because they offered the best price (and free alterations). Russel's also has free alterations, but they wanted more $ for the dress.

Park Avenue in Verona.  Angie, my consultant was amazing.  I like every single dress she pulled for me.
I had the opposite experience at Russells.  I wish I could remember the consultant's name, but she was young and seemed very inexperienced.
I originally found my dress at Exquisite Bride in Millburn, but the sample was a plus size so it was hard to tell if it was "the one" for sure.  I ended up calling a bunch of stores to see if they had the particular Lazaro dress, which is how I ended up at Park Ave.
My mom got her dress from Hollywood Bridal, everyone there was so nice and helpful.

Another vote for Russell's!  They have been amazing to work with, especially Erica who zeroed in on *my* dress, and I've been back several times to look at MOB and BM dresses (they offer 10% off and free alterations for BMs and MOBs if you buy your dress there.)

I got mt dress at David's Bridal in Wayne and had a great experience.  I found them to have a great selection, in fact, I tried on at least 20 dresses.  The consultant was great, she wasn't pushy and was very pleasant to work with.        I ended up paying about $900 for my dress, it was an Oleg Cassini.

Park Avenue Bridals- they were fabulous and I love my dress! It would be helpful if you post your budget. Park Avenues selection tends to "bloom" once you cross over the $1,000 mark and goes up to around 7k.

    LOVING THIS!!!

Thanks so much for the responses. I feel like i have so many options.
I also appreciate the advice. No worries, the dress i end up ABSOLUTELY FALLING IN LOVE with, will be one thats of MYYYY liking/loving. The only reason why i'm open to the idea of buying another dress is because i know i'm not ABSOLUTELY inlove with the one that i have right now. Its like i LOVE IT, but i'm not IN LOVE with it. LOL...

We'll see how this goes!! Keep you posted!

I got mine at Cherished Bridals in Wayne which is a bridal consignment shop. I had looked at two traditional bridal salons, and while I liked their dresses, I didn't like their price tags (sorry, not spending over 1k on a dress I am wearing for a few hours one day). I didn't have the best of consultants at David's Bridals in Paramus.
Was really pleased with how nice and down to earth they are at Cherished Bridals and there are a number of options for the lower price range.

I got my dress and my bm dresses at Helen Bohn Bridals in Washington Township.  It's a small little store but they carried the designer I was interested in trying on.  I had been there before for bm dresses (been a bm 12 times!), and loved the way they did alterations. So far they have been wonderful :)

I got my dress at Roma's in Clifton.  I thought they had a good selection, although many dresses were in the $1k+ range.

I got my dress at Priscilla of Boston in Millburn and loved my experience. I didn't have a great experience at Park Ave - my consultant said she "couldn't figure me out" and said she gave up when I rejected some of her pulls. But they did have a ton of dresses! Bijou had great stuff too. Jaehee was pushy- I saw my dress there but got it at POB, waited for a promotion and saved 24%. Have fun and good luck!
