Centerpieces: half high, half low

Does anyone have any thoughts on having half high, half low centerpieces? Have you done it, or seen it, and do you have any pictures?

Thanks!

I've seen it and I considered it and I think it looks nice. I didn't do it because we were able to budget for the tall ones but it was part of my origional plan/

I have seen it and I'm also considering it.

I went to an amazing wedding where the bride had big, towering centerpieces at half the tables, and lush low centerpieces at other tables (I think she also had a medium height arrangement, but they were very close to the tall ones). It created a dramatic look and it was nice to see a little variation. Most of all, some people really dislike tall centerpieces (you can't always see other people across the table), so it gives you an opportunity to seat those people at tables with low centerpieces. For example, I know at my wedding my FMIL hates tall centerpieces as does my FI's grandmother.

(same wedding - the pictures make it hard to see though)

http://crestflorist.com/gallery3.htm (i can't link to the exact image, but there is a red tall centerpiece and you can see the low one in the background, on the right, in the middle)

If I find any more photos, I'll update you! I'll try to find photos from the wedding I went to, as well. I KNOW i took some photos of her centerpieces!

I like the overall look of the high and low mixed centerpieces but, as gossipgirl mentioned, I'm one of those people who can't stand sitting at a table with tall centerpieces (regardless of how thin the vase is) -- especially when I have to look past it in order to see the dance floor.  For that reason, we decided to do only short centerpieces.

I will be doing three sizes as well, but to be honest I feel the same way peaches does.

I was thinking of doing this, but then realized that our room would be almost at capacity so we don't want to have any tall centerpieces to make it feel smaller.  Also, they cost a whole lot more.  Instead we're going with submerged orchids and pillar candles in vases with votive candles spread around.
