E-pic locations in eastern NC

I am trying to find an outdoor location for our engagment pictures.  We are getting married in Surf CIty, our photographer is based in Jacksonville, however we are from Durham.  Since we are getting married on the beach we would like a different location for our engagement pictures.  We would prefer to have an outdoor shoot, in the woods or a park.  We are looking for a place close to Jacksonville or at least between Jacksonville and Raleigh, the closer to Jacksonville the better as we would not have to pay for our photographer to travel.   Thanks for any suggestions

What about Coratan National Forest?

I think some of the sites are still closed from the hurricane, but you should be able to find some pretty areas. The Neusiok trail area near Oyster Point comes to mind.

You could do the botanical gardens in Wilmington. Or maybe a 40s themed shoot on the battleship?  There's the aquarium too but it might be hard to get good photos with all the glass and weird lighting in there.  I think your photographer can manage the 45 minute drive to Wilmington

You could do topsail beach near jacksonville. There is an amazing pier there.
