What do you know about Ocean Place?

My best friend is looking into having her wedding and reception at Ocean Place in Long Branch, NJ.  Does anyone know anything good or bad about it or have ideas of any other places we should look into?  She wants to do a beach wedding and so far she's also looking into The Breakers in Spring Lake and McLoone's Pier House in Long Branch.  She's probably going to be having around 120 people and would like to spend around 125 pp.  I told her I'd ask here because you guys know everything.

TIA!

There have been several reviews of this location in the past few days, read back a few pages and look at some of the reviews.  Both good/negative reviews can be found--although the one with the negative reviews does not give much information as to why it was so negative.

Personally, I have heard great things about the place.

    Good Luck!

I just got married there and fall on the more negative side of things... I wouldn't really recommend it.  There is no way they will pay 125 pp  - even if they try to sell that to you - everything is an extra charge - I easily paid over 150pp.

I am getting married there on Saturday and while my experience has been much better, so far, then ecg129.  She is absolutely right, you will pay much more the $125 pp.

I had a great experience at the Ocean Place for my wedding last Saturday. As far as the price goes, I did not pay as much as 150 pp, but it was def. higher than 125.  You really do have to take into consideration that you are paying to be on the beach. I had sooo many compliments about the location and how beautiful the views were. As far as McLoones, I've heard the layout of the room is horrible and the food wasn't even that great, and yes it was pricey because of the location. I also checked out Breakers but did not like the layout of the room either. The lady showed us a room that had windows on the side of the building and did not give a great view of the ocean which is what I really wanted.  Just remember beach=$$$$   lol

I mean we are one of the only states that charges people to get onto the beach which should be "free"....LOL

I checked out Ocean Place and wasn't too thrilled with it.  The location is great, and the cocktail hour is held either outside or in some very nice ocean-view rooms.  The reception itself would be held in one of the ballrooms, which are your typical ballroom with no windows.  I felt like if you were going to spend the money to have a beach front wedding, I would want a view during the reception.

I'm having my wedding at McLoone's, which definitely does have a weird layout but the views are amazing.

She could also very easily have a wedding on the beach and the reception somewhere different, they really do hike up the prices for beachfront receptions.

We are definitely considering McLoone's.  Were there any other places you checked into?

I wasn't a fan of the place.  A few yrs ago it was called hte ocean place Hilton, and the rumor was hilton dropped the name because it wasn't up to their standards.
