Anyone ever hire a "maid"?

I'm kind of overwhelmed this week and my house is a mess.... I just found like 10 flies in the house and cleaned the kitchen like a mad man (It wasn't that dirty- calling exterminator tomorrow!) but now I look around and realize that this week I have so much stuff to do for work and the wedding and my dad is coming over on Sunday.  I kind of want someone to come in and give the house a once over (clean kitchen, floors, bathrooms, windows, and dust) but have NO idea how much something like this would cost.  I have a small house (2 bedroom, 2 bath)... can anyone give me a ballpark estimate and give me any reccs?

We have someone who comes in to do our condo - one bedroom, one bathroom - every two weeks.  She waxes everything, bleaches the bathroom, cleans every surface, etc.  We pay $60 for each time she comes.  Let me know if you want her number - I will PM it to you.

That's probably the reason why we're still married :)  Definitely a relationship saver, and totally worth every penny.

We currently pay $85 for our apartment, but that's NYC prices -- even though your place is bigger than mine, I'd guess $60-$75 for yours.  I don't have recommendations because our cleaner lives in the Bronx.

Wish we could afford it on a regular basis.... but my parents still have their girl.
They have been using her for 5+ years, but before that they went through a string of at least 10.
Definitely use someone you get a personal ref from, and ideally stay home the 1st day they come ~ maybe even the 1st few times.

We are looking at getting the same thing. They quoted us $60 for 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bath. That happens to be the thing DH and I argue about most- who cleans what. Hopefully it'll eliminate a lot of that!

With me working 2 jobs and all this wedding stuff I decided last month that we needed to get someone in to do the big stuff. So I have a woman come in 1 time per month to do a massive full clean. We pay her $60.  I can maintain the bathroom and dusting the weeks she isnt there. Its the floors that I  needed to get someone to do.

My guess would be about $70 - $80 for a house.

I have heard good things about Cinderella in Clifton (a friend uses them)

I pay $85 every other week for our house, 3 BR, 3 baths.  We have lots of hardwood floors so it's totally worth it.  I don't know what area you are in, but I would definitely get a personal referral.  When I first moved, I was too far out of my lady's area so I tried a few from the local paper.  Both were HORRIBLE.  Luckily I convinced my original one to come to me here.  She's awesome.
