Just was looking back at posts and saw yours on registration/name change. I just took over my mom's car as my own and had to change the registration- I haven't changed my license yet. The lady said it would be like a $5 change fee, but it's not necessary to change the name. Once your license is changed it changes all info in the system and automatically on your next registration it is your new name. She told me not to bother with paying the change fee that it doesn't matter at all.
