Did anyone ask guests to share their photos?

1. What are some good and easy sites for guests to upload their photos to in order to share them with us after the wedding?  I know about shutterfly, flikr, etc., but are any better and/or easier than others to use?

2. How did you let guests know about the photo sharing website you set up?

We set up an account on Photobucket.com and then made business cards through Vistaprint.com that gave the URL, user name and password information. We got maybe 110 photos through three guests.

We got other photos from other guests, too. One friend (Best Man's FI) sent us a few hundred, and my sister's boyfriend uploaded a few to Facebook and tagged us.

I've seen people do what mbc did and print out cards to ask people to share their pictures that they took by uploading them to a site.  I've also seen weddings where there was a small basket with little CD mailers that were pre-addressed and stamped with a sign asking for folks to take a CD and burn their pictures on to there and mail it back to the bride and groom.

The first option is more economical, although the second might be easier for folks to just burn the pictures to a cd rather than upload.  This options is pricier since you have to buy the CDs, the mailers and of course pay for postage.

I guess it all depends on what you think your guests are more likely to do?

mb- do you think the cards were worth it then, or would those people have sent you photos regardless?

Probably one person out of those three would've sent us the photos on her own. I don't think the other two knew our e-mail addresses or another way to contact us.

The cards were only about $5 (Vistaprint just charges S&H), so IMO it was worth it for 100 pictures.

I'm going to.  I set up a share site through shutterfy based on recommendations from friends.  I just printed out a number of business card sized cards to pass out on my printer and cut them with a paper cutter.  I did it this way based on what my guests are like.  They are always uploading and emailing photos to each other.

I love the idea of printing out cards and asking guests to upload their photos! I think I am going to steal that idea :)!

We didn't ask them to share, but we received over 1000 photos -- most on CD as well online -- from guests.  Whether or not you set up a photoshare site, you'll receive tons of photos from friends and family.  Some were sent to our parents rather than to us because the guests knew only our parents' email addresses or home addresses, but we got them anyway.

we made a share site on shutterfly.....from what i read around, it seemed the easiest to set up
we made buisness cards on vistaprint directing everyone to the site....we had a few people upload their pictures, and it also worked out good just for sharing our pro pictures, the pictures the djs photographer took, and our honeymoon pictures

I saw a machine in a photographers information that you can rent (I dont know how much), but at your wedding each guest can stick their memory card in  the machine and it copies their pictures automatically and then you get everyones pictures. After, you get a file with all the images and just mail the machine back. i think this sounds awesome, but Id love to know if anyone used this and if the guests really did this and how it worked

We did the same thing as MB with the cards on the tables. I think 4-5 uploaded to the photoshare site, but i'm still begging people for their pictures from facebook because you can't print them off of facebook (the quality sucks.). So yes, I think it was worth it because some people did upload, but on the other hand, so many more people posted to facebook so it depends what you're looking for i guess.

Sounds good!  Thanks for the advice everyone!  I'll definitely go with the cards and hopefully I'll have some good results since I quit the Facebook thing back in college which means the photo sharing site and email will be the ONLY ways people can show us their pictures.
