Tides Girls!

I was thinking... We should all express that we think they should use a bakery for there cakes! Everyone I know who gets married at The Tides has mediocre cake. I have always dreamed to have a pretty cake at my wedding like from Palermos or something, but can't afford to get one on the side. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I hope that from here to my wedding enough people will complain, and  they might start getting there cakes from a baker.

I got married at the Tides and was happy with my cake. I picked a very simple cake and thought they did a great job.    It also tasted delicious.

honestly, if you have the venetian hour for dessert, nobody will even eat your cake, and they will barely pay attention to it.

I expressed my opinion to Ron about the cakes and told him that many girls on here talk about the cake not being so great but he said that there baker has been there for many years and has never had a complaint yet

My cake wasn't the prettiest, but it tasted very good, and I didn't hear a single person say anything negative about how it looked.

And like Laurie said, most guests don't even eat the cake anyway because of all the other desserts. I made it a point to eat a slice (and I enjoyed it) ... MH didn't even take a slice because he picked something else.

Honestly, for all that The Tides includes in their wedding packages, I think that it's not at all worth complaining about their cakes. If you can't afford one from another bakery, then that's unfortunate, but it's really not the reception hall's concern.

    This.

I know a few people who were married at The Tides this past year, which is part of the reason we choose it for our venue.  Their cakes looked good--it's not a Cake Girls cake, but it looked professional and everyone said it tasted great.  Plus, there will be so many dessert available and many people don't eat wedding cake anyway.

I agree I am getting married there July 2012 and heard bad stuff about their cakes.  But I heard that the dessert you get with the Viennesse sp?  is soo much people wont even touch the wedding cake.

I think its so funny because my FMIL talks about the cake constantly!!  She says that its her favorite part of the wedding!  I just keep my mouth shut and think that I am usually on the dance floor when the cake is being served.

I know this post is from yesterday but just incase anyone reads this, I thought our cake was really pretty and very delicious.  We got the black and white cake w/ cannoli filling.  I also agree 100% with goalie girl, the Viennese Hour had lots and lots and lots of other goodies too.

Here is a pic of our cake so you can see for yourselves.  :)
