Hoboken W vs Liberty House?

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to the boards and I really appreciate any help. My fiancée and I are between the liberty house and the W in Hoboken. We live in Hoboken and I really like the convinece of the W (our church is in Hoboken). But we also really like the liberty house. The liberty house seems more willing to negotiate with price then the W. but we would have the added cost of having to provide a shuttle at the liberty house. Did anyone compare these two venues? TIA for your help!

  • Personally I think the prices at the W are outrageous and you can do better elsewhere.

  • I thought the prices at the W were a lot too. We're having a short engagement and thought that they may be willing to negotiate to fill a spot (we are looking at sept 22 and nov 10 of this year). I just worry about the cost of providing a shuttle if we choose liberty house. I grew up in VT and my family doesn't do well driving in north nj and my fi is from south no. So everyone will be coming I from OOT and providing transportation for 150pp is a lot of money.
  • Any chance the hotel you're traveling from has a free shuttle they can provide?

  • I didn't look at the W, but am getting married at Liberty House.  From what I heard about the W there aren't views of the city from where the reception is held... is that true? If so, is that a factor for you?  I think it's the Double Tree in Jersey City that will provide at least one shuttle ride to the Liberty House... you might want to check on that.

Check out The Newark Club if you haven't... it is attached to a hotel (so no transportation), prices are better than W and LH... and there are full views of the city. Also, I'm pretty sure there is a restaurant in the hotel that could serve as your rehearal dinner.  One stop shopping!

    <div>Yup, W's room has no windows.  Why?</div><div>
</div><div>I've also heard very bad things about LIberty House, regarding food and if you aren't in main room.</div>
  • I know that the reception room doesn't have any city views, but we would be having our cocktail hour in the chandlier room, which does. So that doesn't bother me. I've heard mixed things about liberty house. Food is important to us. Some people have raved about the food at liberty house while others didn't care for it. The W seems to have very little reviews, which is making this decision harder. The PP had mentioned The Newark Club, but I was trying to keep it in Hoboken or Jersey City since Hoboken is our home, and we often go to the liberty state park.
  • I can't comment on Liberty House because I've never been, but I went to an event at the W (company holiday party) and the food there wasn't that great... it was a buffet style though, and I always feel like buffet food isn't as good as sit down food, especially when feeding a large group.....

  • I've heard the Liberty House food is great when you go to the restaturant but not when you have a wedding there.  Something about making in bulk changes the taste...so I've heard about LH.

Call me dumb, but does Hoboken W have a parking garage?  Just wondering b/c I know how the parking can be there.
