Anyone use or see DJ Chuck Russo?

i wanted to see if anyone used DJ chuck russo out of madison and if so how he was.  i know it is only 1 DJ rather than a DJ and MC, so wanted to see if this makes any difference.  is an MC needed and worth the extra cost?  i want to weigh my options and thought this would be a great source to get some feedback.  thanks in advance :)

Yes, I've seen him at my friend's wedding a few years ago and I will also be using him for mine at our wedding next July.  He is great, he is not obnoxious and will do exactly what you want.  He still can announce your wedding party and anything like that but he will not be the type of DJ that is constantly yelling out on the mic and being annoying.

He's been incredibly responsive and professional with me so far, and he said whatever we want, he can do.  We are more into alternative music but still want some crowd pleasers and he said that is no problem.

I am confident he'll do a great job because I've seen him already at my friend's wedding and while the dance floor was always full, you didn't really notice Chuck was there. He lets the music do its job and doesn't get in the way, which I really appreciate. Not only am I using him, but our other friend used him, and her brother as well.

  • I've seen plenty of good Djs that don't use Mc's. I agree with PP sometimes Mcs are too much.

I first met Chuck Russo at a bridal show.  He kept saying how we don't need an MC, any competent DJ could run the mic as well.  While I agree we don't need an MC, he came across as cocky.

He also told me at the bridal show that my (off season) date was open.  I followed up the next day, and he told me that there were a few other people were actually booked before me.  I guess he just tells everyone their date is open because he can't be bothered bringing his calendar or checking the date there.

I just didn't like his attitude.  In the end, we went with someone who doesn't advertise at bridal shows because they get enough business by word of mouth.
  • I used Chuck Russo for my 8/24 Wedding and he was great. Not an over the top cheesy DJ. And I saw no problem with him woking alone, he was able to introduce and play the music at the same time.
  • thanks girls.  when we met with him, he did not seem cocky one bit.  we are still considering him as one of our top choices.
  • We used Chuck Russo for our 8/18 wedding.  Always professional, followed up on all our calls/emails in a very timely manner.  He was never cocky, always calm and relaxed when we met/spoke with him, which helped me feel at ease that everything was going to be taken care of.

The dance floor was packed the entire night and after the wedding, people raved about the music.  I didn't want an annoying MC who plays all the cheesy audience participation wedding songs, and he was none of that.  He was one of my favorite vendors!!
