Apple Picking / Wine Tasting (Non Wedding Related)

Hi Girls,

I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for wine tasting and apple picking in the Bergen County area or thereabouts. Thinking of dragging the fiance out for some fall fun (and boozin) this weekend. Anyone know of any good places to visit?

He loves beers--so any place that has a brewery nearby would also be cool.

Thanks!

We love to go to the Warick Valley Winery.  Its a little far from Bergen county but its a lot of fun.  We went last weekend and it was packed at 3 pm so go early if you want to avoid the crowds.  They have pretty good wine and cider but no beer.

Also in warwick is Pennings.  They have apple picking and now have a cute bar in the back where you can get some nice microbrews.  Its a pretty cool vibe.  We also went here last weekend and the crowds werent bad but it was later in the day (5pm).

There is a place in Bergen county called Demerest.  I have gone to the farm stand but never picking.  its always packed.  I dont know of any breweries nearby but there is a cute bar in hillsdale called the cornerstone.  They have pretty good food as well.  Then is the Iron horse in West Milford that has great stuffed burgers and an okay bar.

If you are looking for an adventure and good beer I highly recommend Pennings.  They have music during the day at Warwick Valley too if you want to make an entire day of it.

I don't know in Bergen County- but in Monmouth County there is Four J G's Winery, www.4jgswinery.com, and apple picking at Eastmont Orchards, www.eastmontorchards.com, They're both in Colts Neck and not far from one another

I second Applewood, it's the best in Orange County in my opinion. Make a weekend of it and stay at a B&B - this one is really lovely: http://www.applevalleyinn.com/
