Unique Venue hunt in north/central NJ for Winter

Hi!

I am posting for the first time, so my aplogies if I am posting in the wrong spot.  I am hoping to get married in the fall or winter of 2012.  Since most places are booked, it will likely be during the winter of 2012/2103.  We are looking at the end of December or early January.

I am looking for a venue that is not typical and or has a bit of a wow factor.  We are inviting about 235 and feel that around 200 will come.  The two places that we have liked so far are the newark museum and the liberty house.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a unique location for the winter?  Thanks!

Sara

I never really recco our venue bc not many people have heard of it BUT if you like the Newark Museum and the Liberty House, check out the Newark Club.  The room is very non traditional and def has major wow factor because of the views (I am not just saying that bc my fi and I are having our wedding there).

Hello and welcome to the board!  Do you have a budget you are trying to stay within?  Are you looking for a place where you can also have your ceremony?  Or if your ceremony is in a church, what area are you looking to stay within for the reception?  A few more details will help us make recommendations for you.

  • The view at Waterside Restaurant is stunning, fantastic views of the new york skyline.  not sure how many people it can hold though.  definitely worth checking out, the venue itself is also beautiful.

  • Thanks everyone!   I will definitely check out the Newark club and Waterside Retaurant!  We are planning on having our ceremony at a church so space for that is not needed.  As for a budget, we would like to stay around $125 to $150 if possible. It seems places are willing to really cut their costs in the winter which has worked to our advantage.

    Thanks again!

  • Hey

I know that you said your looking for an original type of location.  I just booked at the Winsdor Ballroom in East Windsor its in a Holiday Inn but they have so many things that you can add on and my favorite part is the dance floor is huge.  I havn't seen many places with such a large dance floor.

For anyone else considered the Windsor Ballroom if you book please say that you were referred by Kara my wedding is July 13 2013, when you say you were referred by someone you both get a discount.

Thanks and good luck in your search!
