Westin - Jersey City

Has anyone been to or had a wedding at the Westin Jersey City? If so, what did you think? Also, where did you take pictures?

I inquired with them about it, but it was WAY too pricey for us. Plus, their ballroom doesn't give you a NYC skyline view.

If you booked your wedding there, you could get some great shots at Exchange Place or Liberty State Park. IDK where on the property you could take photos, but the waterfront is right across the street so you could always walk over there if you don't want to drive out for photos.

Thanks for the advice! We were planning on taking pictures at the waterfront, also.
The only place on that waterfront that has a view of NYC was the Hyatt and they were NYC prices.

Did you look into Liberty House? (Although I've heard mixed reviews about them.)

Does it have to be in Jersey City? If not, try the Chart House in Weehawken.

We booked our 11/11/11 reception at the Westin in Jersey City last week. Looked at the Chart House, Hyatt, W in Hoboken, and Waterside in North Bergen. They were all honestly about the same price (at least what we are going to be paying).

I also liked that you get 3 free hotel rooms for your wedding night and I have to say that they treated us better than any other place we went to. Elizabeth is great!

For pictures you can go across the street to get a NYC view and there is also a really pretty marina right across the street. You can get some funny shots behind the hotel at the LightRail stop too.

Only drawback, as people have said, is that there is no view, but for what we were looking for and the price I could not be happier!

I've already signed the contract w/Elizabeth (whom I think was great). I went to the W Hoboken and thought that the Catering Sales person was rude and thought that the Hyatt was overpriced for what it was (since we're just paying for the view).
I haven't seen a wedding there yet and just found out about this blog and decided to ask.
Thank you everyone, for your help.Laughing

jinylee I am glad to see another Westin Bride here on the boards and I 100% agree with your comments on the manager at the W in Hoboken and the Hyatt in JC.

When is your date at the Westin?

My date is 5/14/11 @ The Westin. I hope to see a wedding there before mine. I will keep you informed.

Please do. Idk if you are "friends" with the Westin on Facebook but they have some nice videos and slideshows of weddings there. Also, I was at a bridal show in NJ this weekend and they were listed as one of David Tutera's favorite wedding spots. Hoping to see some other people who have had weddings there to get some feedback.

    @akcrr & jinylee,
I too plan to check out the Westin as well as the Chart House, Hyatt, W in Hoboken & Liberty House. Any chance you would be willing to share the price range per person quoted for those places?
