NWR: Preapproval for Mortgage

Those of you who are house hunting or just bought houses, how did you decide who to go with for your lenders? Who did you look at before deciding?

TIA

We had to be pre-approved by Weichert Financial and we are going with them for our mortgage as well.

I used a broker suggested to me by my realtor. His name is Dino Paone and he was excellent in waking me through the process. Everything was done over the phone. Dino is really nice and patient... He is based down the shore but works all over NJ. He looked at each situation individually and found the best deals. http://www.paoneadvisors.com/index.html Good luck! So exciting!

We looked at houses and when we were serious to put in an offer went with the lender my realtor suggested.  He gave us the pre-approval and we went in with the offer.  We had our preapproval almost immediately.  If you'd like his contact information, PM me.

We used Lending Tree and were happy with them throughout the entire process. Our mortgage was originally with Lending Tree and then it was almost immediately sold to Citi Mortgage.

We used Bank of America which is what our mortgage broker suggested.  We are now currently in the process of refinancing with Valley National Bank.  They had the best rates.

I would get a preapproval from anyone just to get it done, once you get into contract then you can shop around for the best loan for you.  There are no commitments.

I've used Michael Mundy from Pinnacle mortgage a few times, great rates, they shop around for the best loan for your circumstance, and their fee's are very low.

</div><div>As long as you get the pre-approvals within 60 days of each other, your credit report won't get dinged. Know your credit score and make sure your credit reports are clean. Get as many quotes as possible (call the recomended brokers, ask friends, ask your realtor/any realtor, call the bank you hold acounnts with and if you have a credit union, call them too). You have to shop for hte best mortgage for you. </div>

We worked with Joe Cafiero at Superior Mortgage (jcafiero@supmort.com) We shopped around and by far he offered the lowest rates and best customer service. He was extremely helpful throughout the entire process, answered our questions at any time, very honest and offered so much more than we expected (closing credits, great rates, guidance). We have now been in our house for 2 weeks and it was really due to our amazing team ( Lisa Prince Weichert realtor, Joe @ Superior and we also had a really thorough inspector at Pinnacle Inspection) . Highly recommend them all! They are personally great people and great at what they do. If you check in with them, let them know the Carmichael's recommended you.

We got a preapproval with one lender - who wound up being shady and we completed our mortgage through another lender that was a family recommendation:

    Trident Mortgage - Michael Lee - 215-517-6334

He even followed up with us months after the closing when interest rates tanked and walked us through numbers on if we wanted to refinance to get a lower interest rate - we ended up doing this and it is saving us $200 month - we love him!
