Venues start $80pp or less

I'm re-posting this monster list for other knotties that may have a similar question:

So I got out my NJ Bride magazine and flipped to back and went to the "Reception Sites" section. It breaks down the receptions sites by price and county etc...  It can be VERY off in terms of price but you can generally look at the lower number $80 and up to see that you will never get them below $80.  Many on here will criticize this but in my experience it helps you make a list of places to google and start calling.

So here it is, everything that is $80pp as the lower number (or less), by county NOT including tax/gratuity:

 NORTHERN:
Bergen:
Biagio's Ristorante in Paramus*
Landmark in E. Rutherford
Michael's Riverside Restaurant in Lyndhurst
The Royal Manor in Garfield*

Union:
Berkely Plaza, Berekely Heights
Costa Del Sol, Union
Gran Cenurions, Clark
Kenilworth Inn, Kenilworth
L'Affaire Fine Catering, Mountainside
Westwood, Garwood*

Warren:

You do know the magazines aren't the truth most of the time, I've seen my venue in at the construction price many times...

From my experience, which I realize is not much, the magazines are not always completely accurate but they are a good jumping off point.  And if you realize that all of these places are more expensive than the magazine says, then jump down the to the price point below!

Wait, did I need to write more than a 1 line post to get that point across?

I disclaimed that in my post.  Magazines are a starting point.  Then you google and go from there.

FYI, my venue is not under 80 bucks, unless you were on a economy package, which from what I understand doesn't exist anymore...so the list is wrong...AND I booked 2 years ago while it was under construction, and I booked a Friday in November...

I do not feel like posting in the other post as I just do not feel like getting involved in the drama, but try the Mill in Spring Lake Heights if you can do off season.  I had my reception there last March and at the time we paid 64.95 pp (that does not include tax and grat) add that in and it came to about 75 pp.  It has since gone up to 69.95 and has a lot more rule, but if you can do between Jan-March you will get that deal.  Also Sunday is one of the days for the deal and you will most likely be the only wedding going on.  Oh and 120 was my minimum that I had to hit for the main room.

i had my wedding at the landmark on a saturday night in october, and it was $85pp before tax gratuity etc....then we added $10 on for the vienese hour....
i'm not sure what their price is for sunday nights, or if their prices are a little lower for the smaller room upstairs....(we had the big room downstairs, that had a min of 200, but they lowered the min to 170 for us)
i too don't feel like posting in the other thread, but will say, i can't tell you really what the carpeting looked like, i didn't pay attention, and i have no idea what it looks like in the smaller upstairs room
but it was fanstastic there and owners were great to work with

haha...if you don't know what the carpet looked like, it couldn't have been too bad, right?  I will look at the venue. Thank you! :-)

Biagios has more of a restaurant feel, but they did just redo their banquet room and it looks great!

The upstairs room was just redone at the landmark and I think it does not have ugly carpet. But don't quote me. It is very dark, intimate feeling and gave me almost a "japanese cherry blossom" sort of feel if that makes any sense.

I also had a bad experience with the landmark, the banquet manager was very unprofessional when we spoke to him.......

I'm actually surprised to see that Maggiano's is so expensive, since it is a chain restaurant rather than a conventional wedding venue, and doesn't seem to offer as much as a lot of full service wedding venues do.

That said, I would love to go to a wedding at Maggiano's.  I <3 Maggiano's.

I think that The Chandelier in Bayonne, and Casino in the Park in Jersey City, could probably go on this list as well (for Hudson County). I'm not 100% sure on their pricing but I am pretty positive they're under $80pp. Neither have outside grounds, though, but both are fine if you want something really simple and no-frills. The inside of the Chandelier is quite nice, since it was redone a few years ago.

Hudson County is a PITA for finding inexpensive venues because everyone charges you out the _ass for the NYC skyline view. Even if the place is crappy.

I think you can add Schuetzen Park in North Bergen to the list, though they don't have a site and I haven't heard much about weddings there.

How about Fiesta in Wood-Ridge? I think they're renovating, so maybe there are deals to be had?

While it is nice of you to give those who are looking for a deal a list of places to head off to, I can honestly say my reception site (Bridgewater Manor) is NOT $80 or under a head, even off season or on a friday/sunday.  Same with the Berkley Plaza.  And those estimations do not include gratuity or tax.

Bridgewater Manor has the Imperial package which is$ 69 per person before tax and gratuity but its only for saturday afternoons. After tax and grat, its right around $80 per person. Their regular packages are more.
