Disclaimer: I apologize for what follows.
I need a new job! I cannot take mine anymore and I've only been there for 4 months! I left my office of 5 yrs (private practice, I'm in dentistry) last October. My boss and I weren't seeing eye-to-eye and the office manager was making the situation worse. So I applied to the Fed. Gov't for the same position, hoping that the change would do me some good.
BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!! I've never worked for the Gov't before so I didn't know what to expect, but what I'm experiencing has me really rethinking my entire field.
I was hired with a paycut and was told I could talk to my supervisor when I came on board, once I came on and inquired about it - no one knew what I was talking about. So I'm now down 21% in pay.
They have me traveling 1.5 hrs(each way) from my home to cover for another employee who is going on vacation - I was told I would only cover "in an emergency" (apparently vaca is an emergency). I've requested travel reimbursement and have been turned down, but the rest of our dept. gets it (I've been told by the other ppl who receive it).
They've taken away some of the instruments that allow me to do my job in a timely/effective manner, so I'm left to do some very straining work by hand with no electric instruments. Can you say Carpal Tunnel?!
Everyone says Gov't jobs are great if you can stand it, but I can't. The wedding is 2 months away and I really am going to lose my mind with this job. I dread it everyday to the point where I'm getting sick over it.
UGGH!!!!!!
(Thanks for letting me vent)
