So, we went down to FILs today because FMIL and I were going to a florist meeting. However, FI had expressed an interest in using FFILs old wedding ring (he no longer wears it as it does not fit him anymore... he wears HIS father's now), but it does not fit FI.
We popped over to the jewelery store that my ering came from to get a resizing quote. There are two cracks, it needs polishing, and it needs to go up half a size, but not a big deal. While we were there, I asked if 1. they could clean my ering, and 2. what kind of wedding band they would reccommend for it, because my setting does not allow a band to go right up against it. (Funny bit: The owner looked at my ring and said, "This looks familiar!" "It's yours!" we said. They were pleased.)
Anyway, long story short, they are currently using my ering to make a mold for a custom wedding band! The designer whipped up a simple band design that will lock in with my ering and have two little diamonds to match the ones around my amethyst.
I'm super excited about this - though I feel ridiculously naked without my ering.
