Miss or Ms.?

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while - my wedding was in May 2010. But please entertain my random question for invite wording that I know shows up here A LOT. What is your general rule for printing Miss vs. Ms. on an invitation envelope? Thank you!!

I always use Ms.  It feels more modern to me than Miss.

I always use Ms. also, especially if they are over 18.

I think this is what I did... but I honestly can't remember and can't find the guest list. Ugh! How are you doing? :)

OK - one more question. What about "and family" on an invitation? So, a family of 5 with 3 kids (ages 13, 19, and 21) None of them get a guest (not my choice/suggestion!). Would you do

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Family
    or
    The Smith Family

Obviously, there isn't enough room to write out everyones names.

We did miss for single women who were in our generation or younger.  I figured it would make the twenty-somethings feel more youthful :)  To me, Ms. is always appropriate in business (and is the only female title that is appropriate in most business), but I wouldn't mind being Miss socially forever because it makes me feel young.  Kind of like being called "Miss" versus "Ma'am" by a stranger.

But at any rate, I don't think there's a wrong call.

Well I guess I am special. I am 28 and really do not like being "Ms." I always opt for "Miss."

I always rather disliked Ms. Lol

I don't really like referring to people younger than me as "Ms." it seems odd to me.. and if I were 18 and referred to as Ms. it would make me feel weird. I think if I referred to one of my friends/peers who is not married as "Ms." she would think it was weird as well. I'd prefer to use Miss for anybody younger than me, and Ms, for anybody older than me, who is not married. Sorry, that's my weird reasoning on it.. lol
