Wedding Favors

My wedding is July 3, 2010. I am having a difficult time coming up with wedding favors that are reasonably priced. It would be nice to have something related to MI since we will have a lot of out of town guests. Any suggestions??

Re: Wedding Favors

  • If you're having a hard time finding something within your budget, you can just skip favors.  They're not required or expected - the reception is thank you enough.

  • Hmm.. not sure. If you post on your local MI board they might be able to provide you some good suggestions for MI-themed favors though.
  • shelly - have a wonderful time in St. Lucia!   We sure did!

  • Favors aren't required, so feel free to skip them if you wish. If you really want to give out favors, though, do something edible. A lot of people don't want/can't use keepsakes. Maybe try a candy or cookie that's well-known inside of Michigan, or something from a family recipe.

  • http://www.bakerella.com/wedding-cake-pops/I've been playing with these (though as part of our dessert bar rather than as favors).  With just the cake balls, I was able to make 50 for about $15; the final cost would of course depend on decoration and packaging.  I'm also going to try out the Oreo truffles from the same blog.Honestly, if you don't want to spend the money and don't want to mess with DIY, just skip them.  No one will mind.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Perhaps cherry or apple jam made by a local shop. Or wine from a Michigan winery.
  • How about Macinac (sp) Island fudge? YUM! Or something made from local apples? Definitely go edible for favors if you plan on doing them, and make it something you won't mind taking home with you at the end of the night if people decide to leave them on the tables. While favors definitely aren't a necessity, in some circles (like mine) it would be VERY odd to not have them. So if your circle wouldn't mind you skipping them, I wouldn't bother. My circle, on the other hand, would wonder where the heck they were. lol
  • I had the same dilemna and wanted to do something other than mints or chocolate covered almonds. My FI absolutely loves maple syrup! I got these little jars at .50 each and will buy gallons of maple syrup and fill them. I will boil them to seal them. I'll use ribbons and such to decorate and print "thank you" tags. Think of the little things that are significant to you. Something that people can associate with you.
